sugar is fine to my knowledge, might even sway pink more by causing glucose spikes
as long as fat and calories are within the right range, I wouldn't worry about the sugar

Yes, sugar is fine on this diet - it can be a very handy way to get your calories high enough without going over on protein and sodium.
The low blood sugar thing refers to how many times a day you eat. On the LE diet, you should keep all your eating to 2-3 small meals a day, with no snacking in between. Most people choose to wait to eat their first meal until 12pm (i.e. skip breakfast), which means they've been fasting since the night before and their blood sugar can get nice and low.

Another scary-ish day! But our friends have left now. I was able to skip breakfast but they wanted to go out to lunch. I got a mushroom stroganoff (they had no salads!)... which was mushrooms, some carrots/broccoli/peas, rice, and the stroganoff sauce. The sauce is probably where they problem was, but it wasn't gobs and heaps of it. So hopefully not to bad. I'l going to fill up on empty calories the rest of the night and see how I feel around dinner time and maybe attempt to skip dinner to make up for the last two days...

I found it easier to eat 3 meals. My last 'meal' was actually an evening snack, and usually involved empty calories like candy.

That just means foods that have calories but no nutritional value. Candy's a good example, as is full sugar soda. Most of those things have very little protein or sodium, so it can be a great way to make sure you get enough calories in your day (remember that the minimum you should eat on the diet is 1500 calories) without going over on other things.
