Do you think it would mess with my blood sugar levels?I was thinking about just drinking crystal light instead of plain water but I am not sure if that will help me not pass out while working out.

I often had a breakfast of diet coke and chocolate (god that sounds so bad) and went for a huge walk or worked out. You get a sugar high but burn it off with exercise, all empty calories, nothing healthy about it really. Obviously my eating habits tend to sway pink

I stopped working out to sway due to the lack of food. I normally eat frequently due to the fact that I workout, and always eat before exercising. I just had to give it up in order to sway or else I would not have enough energy and waste away. Can't wait to eat and workout again! Don't think crystal light would be any different than water. If you do workout still I wouldn't skip breakfast.

I have been running 30+miles/week and have been having the same problem. I have to eat something little. You need the sugar and energy to get through the workout. But, if you can wait afterwards, your blood sugar should be decreasing after the workout, so that is a good time to keep it low with protein, no sugar, etc...

Thanks Jazzers, Yeah right now I run about 13 miles a week and then lift 3 days a week. I will be obviously cutting out lifting and run 5 days a week when we are swaying. I am the type of person that needs to work out, so cutting it out all together for my sway is something I couldn't do. Maybe I can just do an apple with the skin cut off before the gym or something. I know I will burn it off anyway, so I am not sure if this will have a negative affect on my sway. If worst comes to worst, I might just have to switch my work out sessions to the evenings so I don't run into the problem at all. I just like working out first thing in the morning.

Eat something that is pure carbs (apple, chocolate, both ok) and don't wait around before you start exercising - the carbs will give you quick fuel to get thru the workout but will burn off quickly and leave you with lower blood sugar than you had in the first place. Be prepared to eat something immediately after exercising if you need to (and maybe even to stop partway thru) because yoru blood sugar WILL crash.
Are you 100% sure you need to eat? Sometimes with skipping breakfast, I find I can go for awhile and not have the same sort of sugar crash when I exercise
I think you need to increase workouts to 6-7 days a week or risk being in "moderate exercise" zone. It can be challenging if you're already in good shape, to tax your body.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

you may be even more likely to have the prob. in the evening for the reason I mentioned above - your blood sugar levels are already low in the morning to start out with and so you may be able to exercise on an empty stomach and be ok. Whereas if your body has been releasing insulin all day long, your blood sugar may crash after eating and make it even worse.
There is nothing magic about skipping breakfast, many women have boys who skip breakfast and many girl moms never skip it. I agree with PoP, it's about your overall diet and what you're eating. The skipping breakfast just helps ensure we have a nice long run with blood sugar on the low side but if you can't, you can't..!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
