    Happy Folic acid

Hi, I'm from the uk. With my previous 2 pregnancies (both boys) I took pregnacare tablets but I'm wondering if I will need to take folic acid separately if I'm already taking calcium and mag supplements. If so, how much? Thanks

Yes! You def. need to be taking some folic acid. I would take between 8-1600 mcg depending on how strictly you are dieting (there is folic acid in baked goods and fruits and veg, so if you're not eating any of these things, you will want to take the larger amount) and how concerned you are about neural tube defects (are you older than 25 and/or have a history of neural tube defects - if so, you will want to take the larger amount.)

PS - If any blue swayers are reading this, this amount is for pink swayers only. Blue swayers need to take MORE folic acid because some of the boy supps cause folic acid to leach from your system.
