Breastfeeding is something to look into, but with me I was breastfeeding more when the boys were conceived. I have 3 with the same 21 month age gap as yourself the 1st 2 are girls and the 3rd is the current bump of blue but with full swaying involved, so for me the 21 month age gap was enough time for me to have slipped back fully into my girl eating habits and to have lost any body condition gained from pregnancy! Plus any breastfeeding fat not muscle burning benefits were usualy only at a minimum by this age if there at all. So it is definately worth further investigation on this topic imo

Well I had my u/s today. I have one little bubba on board! My heart was pounding while I was sitting there waiting. And then I saw it on the screen and couldn't stop smiling. I didn't get a heartrate but I saw the little heart flickering away. So nice! I have my first ob appointment in two weeks so will have another scan then!

Sorry it took so darn long to answer these questions....my life is crazy right now.

Can I ask what position you were in while pushing with DD3?
A lot of times it is the position we are in that causes a dystocia...that and a Dr. without patience. The head and shoulders should be able to do a full restitution before the body comes out. Many Dr's want the baby to come out fully before this happens. Dystocia rarely happens at home where a woman has full use of her body off of a hospital bed. It does happen but very rarely. About the PPH....

How was your diet? I had bad ms was vomited a lot!
Any drugs during birth? No I go natural with all mine!
How long was your labor? I have had two pph with #3 and # 4. #3 went in to labour 4 weeks early and labour was around 14 hrs, #4 labour was around 10-12 max.
Did the Dr. put traction(pull) on the cord? No idea if they pulled it TBH??? I remember having a shot in my leg and they massaged my tummy?
How soon after birth was the cord cut? DD3 the dr did it right away as she was shoulder dystocia and was born with no pulse had to be resus. #4 it was cut after a few minutes by dh.
Did you feel safe and comfortable during your birth? DD4 I was very very tired as had been in pre labour for a few good days. #4 I was petrified of bleeding again and alas I did and even worse this time.
Did they leave the baby on you or whisk her away? # 3 was whisked away to resus and #4 snuggled right on me and latched herself on the boob right away!!
How soon after the birth did you start to bleed? Right away, not sure if I started bleeding while pushing though? DH and my sister said soon as baby was out it gushed out like a faucet My bp dropped, my hearing and visison went and I felt like I was dying.. probably was..
Was it before or after the placenta came out? Before placenta came out. With all pregnancies my placentas dont come away naturally i end up in theatre.
Did you have a full bladder after birth? Ummmm not sure as I then get taken for a general to help placenta out so am quite groggy
Were you cold after the birth? Yes and I shiver terribly but I go in to shock from the blood loss.
Have you had any d&c's? I ask because it sounds like your placenta's are sticky. It could be from scarring of the uterus which then causes your placenta to adhere to the side of the uterine wall. This would cause abnormal bleeding because parts of the placenta would detach but not others. The uterus would then not be able to clamp down those big arteries because the placenta is hindering it from doing so. It's really hard to know for sure but I would say that letting the placenta detach on it's own(with out too much massaging as that can prematurely detach small areas and cause more bleeding)would be a good idea plus no traction on the cord by anyone. If you can get into a squatting position to push it out...that's ideal. Gravity does wonderous things The one thing about iron you mentioned- liquid is by far better than tablets. Take it with Vit C for absorption and do not take it near consuming dairy(one hour on either side). Flouradix is pricey but so worth it. It really helps boost your stores. Even if you're not super low...it'll help you feel normal after losing too much blood. Another fantastic supp for blood clotting/hemorrhage is alfalfa tablets...super cheap...full of awesome vits and minerals and they are fantastic at stopping you from bleeding too much. They have tons of Vit K in them too so baby gets lots through your bm after birth

I have had a managed 3rd stage every time, just because it was the norm and I never spared a 2nd thought to it. This time again my consultants only wish due to lots of babies is managed 3rd stage. Now i recently read that it is the injection of ??? that also causes the after pains to be so bad. But i am recommended it incase of hemorrhaging, I've not had any blood losss with any of the babies yet, but I do know that it is quite possible. I have been taking my iron, much to the dismay of my constipation lol!!! but I'm nervous about not taking Dr's advice, say I go with the managed 3rd stage, what else shlould I do to minimise any risk of later hemorrhaging?? Immediate breast feed, bite of placenta (lol, can you imagine that, 'Cut me off a quick lump of that love!!') My diet is good aswell. Any advice appreciated
They give you Pitocin(also called Syntocin). The thing is even if you refuse the pit....they can give you the shot at anytime if they notice you're bleeding a bit too much. Just because you've had lots of babies doesn't mean you're broken Your body knows what to do. Just make sure that babe is skin to skin, nurse as soon as babe wants it, tell the nurses to bugger off until you've had a solid hour of baby time, LIGHT uterine massage to keep an eye on how firm your uterus is and maybe bring some herbs with you if you're comfy with taking something. I use Angelica and Shephard's Purse for bleeding. Angelica is used for bleeding BEFORE the placenta is delivered and Shephards purse is used for bleeding after the placenta has been delivered. If you don't want a managed third stage you should put that down in writing and tell EVERYONE in the room what your wishes are. They are so used to giving the injection that most times they are on autopilot and forget that you didn't want it. I hope everything goes super smoothly for you ELP!!! Smooth labour vibes heading your way! If you need any questions answered during your birth...I'll give you my cell number and you can text me if needed xoxo

That is true about the OR taking awhile to get prepped anyway. I think the knowledge of knowing you can handle anything childbirth throws at you or at least feeling confident that you can do it has a lot to do with it. I wish the gov would just leave homebirthers alone, too. They make it very difficult here to get a birth certificate and all. And it varies so much just county by county, because they rarely do it and they want to make sure they don't get in trouble for not having enough proof or paperwork.
How exactly do you recommend a placenta be delivered? When it seperates on it's own?
You are so sweet Thank-you, WP I would be there for you in a heartbeat if we lived closer!
About the placenta....don't over think it. 5 mins to 1hr after your birth you will feel kinda crampy and then you can squat over a bowl...and voila! A placenta I think we're sometimes more fearful of the placenta than the birth! LOL It'll come out Just don't worry about it. Keep an eye on your bleeding but more importantly...how do you FEEL after the birth. Tired is normal. Passing out, feeling like you don't want to hold your newborn, having no colour in your face or extremely faint...not good signs. Do not pull on it- when you feel it's time for it to come out, bear down and if it doesn't come out, try blowing into a bottle. About the BC- they make it difficult here too. Every year it gets more and more difficult to get the correct paperwork etc. But, I would rather deal with crappy paperwork than go to the hospital xo
PS- have you read Laura Shanley's UC book? Such a great read

They are low but you need to be prepared for the guilt and consequences of your choices "if" something went wrong. That is not a discouragment at all, just be aware. I would have thought I would have known if something was wrong and I didn't until it was too late and there was no saving him.

I had 3 previous quick uncompicated births at the hospital before losing my son. No pain meds.
I'm so sorry about your son I cannot imagine the pain of losing a child. (HUGS)
You are absolutely right. Everyone has to be comfortable with the choices they make. Moms and babies die at home and in the hospital...it's not fair and many times no one is to blame...it's just the way things go
Before ever deciding about a UC I had to feel 100% comfortable with the risks and know that it fell completely on my shoulders in regards to responsibility. I do feel very good about my decision and I'm not against help at all. Yes, it could be too late at that point, but I cannot be guaranteed that everything would be ok or that I or baby would be saved in the hospital. Life is risk and we all need to live life the best way we see fit My thoughts are with you as you get ready to birth your daughter~ I hope your birth is beautiful and peaceful and that you are holding your sweet rainbow baby in your arms soon xo
