Hi, I really need some advice about temping. My normal pre ov temp is 97.4, this is what it was yesterday and today it has dipped to 96.3. Dose this indicate pre ov dip? Or could it be something else? If it is a pre ov dip, when will I ov? Will it be during the day today as dh and I did not dtd last night so we'll need to somehow get busy!!!!! Thanks!

Im not 100% but I think your temp drops when you are Ovulating not before? Hopefully someone more knowledgable will chime in. 3 rises after the dip means O has taken place I believe.

Thank you! Still wondering if it definitely means that or if it just sometimes happens anyway? X

After monitoring my cycle for 5 months it definately appears that my temp drop is the same day as O. The raised temp and cm indicate it
But who knows if its the same for everyonemy amazing baby

There are so many things that can affect temperature, including mouth breathing, time you went to sleep, time you awoke, how warm or cool your room is, if you woke up during the night, etc. It helps when you can chart your temperatures over a few months to see if you can spot trends. I know that is probably not the best answer, but that is the best way to find out how your body works.
I don't have a temperature dip prior to ovulation, at least not normally. My waking times, narcolepsy, and some other things affect my temperatures too much. I tend to use CM and rhythm to start watching for ovulation. I use OPKs too.
Good luck!03

I think it's most important to know your body. I tend to get an ovulation dip... It almost always happens for me, and it's the day before I O. But many women do not get a dip at all, or it may be O day like cinss said.
This is why I think it's important that if you're going to temp/chart, you do so for a few months and see what your body tends to do
The O "dip" tends to happen just before or on O day for women who experience it!Wife to a sweetie DH& Mama to:

Unfortunately the temp dip is different for each person and also for the same person from month to month and so you can't really tell exactly when you're going to O.
I think you two need to get busy!!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
