    Soy Isoflavones Supplements Show Promise

The University of Minnesota, in a combined effort with other research institutes, have reported that supplements of soy isoflavones have been linked to fewer episodes of hot flashes as well as less severe hot flashes. If further research continues to validate this report, it would be of great benefit to all women. Hot flashes and their companions, night sweats, are the main topic of concern for women who are experiencing menopause.

A study of the data collected, indicated that when women ingeste 54 milligrams of soy isoflavone supplements daily for a period of six weeks up to a full year, 21% reported fewer hot flashes and 26% reported milder hot flashes. According to Mindy Kurzer, co-author of the study, “Our overall conclusion was that soy isoflavones do in fact have a significant effect.” Currently, treatment for hot flashes has been limited to hormone therapy, which is suspected of increasing a woman's chances of getting breast cancer as well as other severe health issues. Although, preliminary, and sometimes controversial, research into the benefits of soy have been associated with breast cancer, most professionals agree that there is no harm in using it in moderation.

Some people believe that and others are not so sure! I think the jury is still out on that one personally.

Blue swayers should be wary of soy regardless because high soy intake has been linked to birth defects in the genitals of baby boys.
