Can you answer all these questions?
1.Which ovary did you O from? Right or Left?
2. When did you get your BFP?
3. What resulted? boy or girl?
My reasoning is this...if you O from the right and and have a boy, you will get an earlier bfp because it will implant on the right side of the uterus (Ramzi's theory), and if you O from the right and have a late BFP that resulted in girl would mean you O'd from the right and it implanted on the left side hence the later BFP.
For me: Always from the right and early BFPs...all boys...the egg didn't have far to go to implant on the right. This one is taking much longer...O'd from the right...we will see what it is later...and if my theory is correct.

I have no idea which side I ovulated from in my past pregnancies, but with this one it was confirmed by u/s so I can.
I Ovulated from the left, with a BFP at 10dpo, and I'm having a girl!!!

Mochagirl..congrats!!! Okay....so that is what I was thinking...10dpo is the cut off...so..if you get your BFP 10 dpo or sooner then it should mean that whatever side you O'd from, you implanted on hence girl/left or boy/right....and any BFP over 10dpo would mean it had to cross the uterus to the other side taking longer. That is cool....I may have come across a way to figure out what you are having before you actually know it!!!!
I hope more ladies chime in....I will have to post this on other sites and see the outcome!!!

Interesting theory. I'd just make sure the women giving their info had the side of ovulation confirmed by u/s since many seem to think they can tell by what side they get O pains on and that might not be the case.

You are correct...for me, I get intense pain when I O...and I cannot remember the last time I O'd from the left...if I put money into this theory then I could make sure everything was by the book, but since I just thought of it while putting my son to bed...LOL...you know how it is...so....after a long talk with my angels about this baby girl I have yet to have a confirmed BFP on...this is what they put in my head...so maybe it is really something. We will see!!!!! Thanks for your reply.

DS#1 is unknown
DS#2 STRONG right-sided O pain
O May 23
Implantion bleeding May 30th
BFP June 10 (2 days after missed period)
I tested with a digital the previous Sat but it was negative.
Miscarried angel was left-sided O pain
I did get a ghostline on my cheapie HPT like 5 days before my period was due. BFP was day before my period was due, but probably would have showed up on the real test that early.
This cycle has been the strongest O pain to date. Left-sided. mild left-sided cramping also for days. I did feel a bit of right-sided activity but it didn't compare to left-sided O.
I believed the Ramzi theory until I went to google and then babycenter.com. Many MANY ladies have boys on the left and girls on the right.Last edited by Butterfly Spirit; May 26th, 2012 at 10:12 PM.

interesting! with my boys i never got a BFP till at least 13 DPO basically around the time AF came.....with my girls i got a faint line at 7DPO and BFP at 9DPO:1.Which ovary did you O from? Right or Left?
2. When did you get your BFP? with my last successful swayed baby faitn line 7DPO BFP 9DPO
3. What resulted? boy or girl? girl

The side you feel pain on isn't necessarily the side you O on. I had pain on the right and it was confirmed that I ovulated on the left, and I think Zanacal had the same thing. Atomic once explained the pain can often be caused by the pressure of half-developed eggs NOT being released from the non-ovulating side.

Great point - I personally have witnessed many people saying what side they Oed on the basis of O pains and that has been proven 100% unreliable. you must have your side of O from ultrasound only and not O pain.
Plus, you need to make 100% sure that you and the ultrasound tech are speaking the same language - as in, "My right or your right?"
The study that looked into this found that while statistically, more girls come from left sided vs. right sided O, it was far from a guarantee. PLEASE no one despair or jump for joy over the side you Oed and your child's gender, it's nowhere near 100%. Right-sided ovulation favours pregnancy more than left-sided ovulation (I think this is the right study??)Side of ovulation, hormones and sex ratios!!!
