Why Not BD through O or +OPK??

I know that AS really recommends trying for that one attempt once you receive a pos OPK, but what is the exact reasoning behind this? If my DH is already doing FR, do you think it's okay if we BD from now CD 11 to my +OPK? Is the reasoning because it could effect my ph? We are getting ready to try any day and I would really love for this attempt to work! Also, he FR in the morning, so if we BD on a night that he has already FRed is this ok?
    THANK YOU!

I am not so sure that is the only option she recommends when dh is doing FR. I know you can do more that one attempt at long as dh did FR for 7-10 days prior to first attempt... are you doing other things to sway - diet , supps, no exercise, Zyrtec etc? These things cover you for having more than one attempt. Also getting preg with one attempt only may be harder for some women. Good luck !!

    hey sosa

You're most likely to get preggie by dtd the day before you o, so a +opk is a good time to start as you are likely to o around 24-48 hours later. if you are having one try (usually with abstiance) it would make sense to do it then as best chance of conviceing if you are doing FR you can do mulitple attempts +opk is a good place to start too then you could do a couple more attempts if you want to up your chances of getting preggie.

If you believe in shettles (pre o timing for a girl) you wouldn't want to do this, most people on here don't go for shettles timing

If you BD rather than release thats okay but you will increase your testorone, possiably your cm too and risk the big o (which ups testorone too) and a whoopsie which would be before your 7-10 FR are complete.

this is my interpritation AS might be too busy at mo to give you a direct reply ;-0 there are lots of essays re timing in the best pratcise section maybe re read if you have a mo cause I'm not sure i've seen her say only at +opk if you're doing FR i may be very wrong thou i am no expert

do what feel right to you - good luck

Thanks Fish & Mydream! I was considering attempting before the +opk, maybe tonight, then tomorrow should I have that +OPK or until I get it. I actually didn't want to DTD till I Oed...I worry, just because I do know Shettles - even though on here it says that timing isn't a big deal, I just will always have that in the back of my head. We tried only one attempt last month, and obviously no preggos. But last month I j/d immediately and had DH on LR and I was on supplements as well. So maybe that was a factor??? This time I will not do j/d. I am on diet, Vitex, SP, low aspirin, and started Zyrtec a couple days ago. DH has been FR for about 12 days so far.
So either DTD up to and day of +OPK or DTD at +OPK and maybe once in the morning??? Uh...don't know, and really want it this month! Doesn't help that DH keeps saying your starving yourself and it will probably be another boy - ERR

I'd start tonight and just keep going! That's what I did. Don't know if it worked yet...I'm still in the 2ww, but I definitely wanted to get pregnant this month!!

Good luck, Sosa!! Keep us posted!!

Thanks Beadin! I think I may, but how horrible I'm already tired I am noticing some EWCM combined with some of that yucky rephresh stuff - used it this morning. So I am guessing I should have a +OPK very soon!

we started two days before i thought I'd o this month.... I o'd two days late so we did loads of attempts this month - i kinda feel maybe there's something in shettles but having tried two months with a cut off i've had enough ;-0

So long as you've had 7-10 days of DH releasing (whatever way!) before any attempts which are in your fertile time and could make you pregnant then that's fine, so you could definitely start now and stop whenever you like My girl was conceived on O day

Thanks Zanacal! We did not try last night, as sleep prevailed - lol! Long day of family entertaining! But possibly tonight, I am noticing cm even though I am taking a zyrtec, so I will probably add a benadryl to make sure all is good and well! FXXX +OPK should be any day now...

You can and it has worked for some people.

The reasoning is, if less sperm seems to sway pink, which the data seems to indicate, then unless you NEED more swimmers to conceive, it's best to err on the side of fewer sperm rather than more. So a lot of people start off doing one attempt at positive OPK (because that's the best shot at conception) and then in subsequent months add in more attempts if they don't get pg from one attempt.
