Just got my first BBT (and omg it's pink- good sign!) but I haven't been able to find an answer to this question-
is it more important to take your temp right when you wake up, or at the same time every day?
Because I wake up anywhere in a 6 hour window depending on what day it is...there's really only 2 days a week that I wake up at the same time.
However, I am awake and have usually been lying down for about 2 hours at 3AM each day.
So if same time is more important I could do 3 or 4 am...but if it's just 'when you wake up' no matter what time I can do that too...
Thanks for any help you can give me!

You should take your temp at the same time every morning...before you do ANYTHING. Before you get out of bed, before you pee, before you drink water....before you exert any physical energy AT ALL.
Fertility Friend has an alarm on the mobile app you can set to wake you up and remind you to take your temp - I love it!

as the other said - must must must be at the same time!
i do the same, temp and crash back to sleep on morning when i don't have to be up that early.
The earliest i am up is 4.30, so my alarm is set for that time, and i take my temp at 4.30 even if I'm going to be staying in bed for another 4 hours..
i have it on my bedside table so i literally just have to reach over - its important not to get up or move or do anything to have the best accuracy

The prob. is, neither is ideal because taking temp later in the day can mean your temp rises and falls based on physical activity while waking at different time can also mean you're at different points in your wake-sleep cycle and could have unpredictalbe temps because of it. (I never temp for this very reason - I never sleep well enough to do it!)
What I would do is make TWO charts, one where you take your temp in the morning regardless of when you wake up, and another where you take your temp at the same time of day even if it's in the afternoon. don't mix and match the temps, keep them separate, but after 1-2 cycles you can kind of compare them to see how they stack up. You may find that they are both equally reliable or that one vs. the other is better and then you'll have your answer.
The other thing you can try is temping vaginally. This can help correct some of the variation from both physical activity and waking at different times of day.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

That's a good idea to do two charts.
My temps are always first thing when I wake up and relatively same time, within the hour. I can't set an alarm though. I am one of those people who can never fall back asleep if I have gotten 4-5 hours
