Does a temp rise mean ovulation has ended?

Just wondering if a temp rise means ovulation has ENDED or is still OCCURRING?

I got my +opk yesterday, so we dtd. Then this morning I got my temp dip, and we are going to have an attempt tonight too. If this cycle follows my others I will have a rise tomorrow morning. Is it worth having an attempt tomorrow night as well? Or does the rise mean it's all over and I'm out of my fertile window so we just wait till we can take a HPT lol
    Thanks!!

Our family is now complete - no more babies for us. We didn't get our girl but I wouldn't trade my boys for the world, so in love.

    Bumping for answers!!

I got the temp rise, is having a attempt tonight worth anything or pointless?? DH had a hard time dtd last night after a prior release! So if it's pointless I don't want to make him do it again tonight! Thanks ladies!!

You really don't know for sure that you've ovulated until after you get three high temps in a row. Usually the day of the rise is the day after o for me, but I would still attempt on that day just in case.

Mom to a blended family of 5 kids (3 boys, 2 girls), with one more due in late May 2013. We swayed for a girl, but have a sweet baby boy on the way.

Sharp temp rise after sharp temp means ovulation has ended and egg is dead. You do need 3 high temps above coverline to confirm ovulation, but your egg is dead by the time your temps go up.

(sorry it took me so long, we are getting tons of questions lately)

Atomic, is the egg still alive at the morning of first temp rise?
    Can someone still get pregnant?
Is the first temp rise O+12?

Most people test first thing in the morning, and since sharp temp rise after sharp temp dip means egg is dead, if you get a high temp that morning, then YES the egg is dead.

The only exceptions are when a person has released two eggs, and the first one has gone but the second ~may possibly~ still be alive (this really doesn't happen much and I would certainly not recommend it.) And there are times when due to either user error or just an oddball temp, it might appear like your temp is different than it was. Like, a person who usually temps with one thermometer, switched to a different one; or if you had a bad dream or were coming down with a bug, and it raised your body temp higher than normal - there are other reasons your temp can go up or down so you can't automatically assume that one high temp ~necessarily~ indicates ovulation has occured. The rule is that you need to have 3 high temps above coverline, one high temp doesn't prove anything.

NO, a high temp rise after a sharp dip DOES NOT mean O+12 OR Shettles boy timing. Both of these have been claimed on various sites as fact, but 999 times out of 1000 when your temp goes up due to ovulation having occured, the egg is dead and gone and it is a very bad method for trying to use timing in gender swaying - there has NEVER been a confirmed pregnancy from sex the day after ovulation and this has been shown in all reliable studies using modern technology.

    case against O+12 here http://genderdreaming.com/forum/tryi...9-no-12-a.html

If you absolutely MUST do O+12, I think the easiest way is to simply have one attempt 48 hours after positive OPK. If you aren't comfortable with that, the actual directions on how to do O+12 are here http://genderdreaming.com/forum/ttc-...do-o-12-a.html
