We have 3 bedrooms and 3 children. Me and DH have the middle room, the smeallest room is still a small double but its our spare room or nuresery i guess when we have another baby and the 3 boys ( 8,6,3 ) all share the biggest room - they have a large cabin bed each plus plenty of floor space for playing etc. If there was a spare wall e could easily fit another bed in there - infact the way it is now e could swap the cabin beds for bunk beds and sleep 4 in there no problem. If the next aby is a girl the boys will have to carry on sharing and she will have the spare room as hers - if its a boy then as he gets older he will probably go in with his brothers and we will make the spare rooma study / homework space that they each have their own time slots in to make sure they have somewhere to go to do work etc if the rest of the house is too noisy.

We also have 3 bedrooms - the 3 boys share, Eliza has a room (although she doesn't sleep in it yet!) and we have the other. I wanted to have the eldest 2 together and the youngest 2 together but the 3rd bedroom is too small. I love that they're close to each other because they share but hate how much they mess around together at bedtime!!

What do you all think about the preteens and teens? How are they do sharing?
ELP-what will you do when the little ones get older? Will the older ones already be moving out???
Shell-How do your teens do sharing?
I keep telling DH just because our kids turn 18 does not mean they will move out. I envision them living at home for collegeThey are all within 1-2 school years apart as well.

Our teen and 8yo girls do fine. There's some fighting and name-calling, but I can tell you from experience that would be the same if they weren't sharing a room. Our teen has a problem with it because she can't stay up all night on her phone because the "baby" in the room wants to sleep -- but we cut her phone off at 9 pm regardless lol.

That's awesome ELP I definitely just showed DH that and he wanted to know what I was trying to tell him-LOL
We are actually in the midst of addition work too. DH is doing almost all the internal stuff, electric, insulation, sheetrock, etc. which is the only way we could afford it.
We are adding a bedroom and bathroom which will give us 4 rooms and 3 bathrooms. The kids' rooms are still small, but when it's all done I think it will feel like so much space
SB-I can completely imagine your girls and the older one complaining about the phone. Completely how I grew with all sisters!
