Help! I need to add potassium to my diet!
Can anyone tell me what to eat/drink that has low fat, protein and salt and high potassium?
I'm sticking to 1200-1500 calories for my LE diet and getting better at lowering my salt, fat and protein levels but am always seeming to push them to the max recommend amount for a girl sway, sometimes protein and salt go over despite my best efforts.
I just checked back on myfitnesspal and my potassium levels each day are just 300-400mg! I read somewhere that atomic recommends 2500-3000? What are the possible effects of me having such low potassium? Will it stop me from conceiving this cycle? Now I am super worried I've mucked up my chances and I can't afford to do this girl diet too long as I don't have much weight to loose before I drop below 18BMI!

Strawberries! Just checked back and when I had strawberries my potassium was higher, I think the punnet had 382mg. Low everything else and only 80 calories. Expensive though...

I'm having the same problem and am also using myfitnesspal to track. I cannot imagine how anyone gets 2500-3000!! Mine have been right around 400 too.

Babygirl I totally get you! How would anyone get so high? I upped mine consciously, and still only manage 900ish! Obviously Bananas are good (about 450) but bad for ttc girl... Apples and strawberries are ok, but strawberries are expensive. Lentils are good, so I cooked up a bunch with some girl friendly low nutrient veggies and keep eating them for dinner but they taste crap! Dying here!
Atsaukina1 do you mean coconut milk? Where do you get coconut water? Never heard of it before, I'm in a small country town in Australia, may have to hunt it down when we are in the city next. We do buy coconut milk for cooking curries etc... would that be the same?DS1 2009, DS2 2011.

I'm sure coocnut milk has lots of fat, cals to go with it cocnut water is just the water
also I just had some pineapple slices yesterday and it was 100+ for 2 slices but also had 70 cals. but probably easier to find
Vita Coco Coconut Water
they have other brands just make sure if you find some at the store to make sure it is coconut water(or some w/ fruit flavors) but not any added sugar, hfcs, or anything

I could be totally wrong here but I'm sure I've read that there is no legal requirement to put potassium levels on food and therefore you will be consuming more that MFP is detecting. For example, when I entered in MFP that i'd ate yoghurt, the potassium levels for the day didn't change, even though youghurt (full fat, not sure about low fat?) is one of the highest potassium foods?
This is quite helpful

Thanks ladies,
I thought pineapple was a no no for ttc girl because it creates more alkaline environment?
Coconut water I'll chase up.
Potato is under the 'only eat occasionally' category for LE diet, so I'm consuming only every so often buy yes they have great levels... However I ate lots of potato when I conceived my two ds's so I won't be upping that too much.
Same with bananas, I ate them so often before I kind of see why they aren't on the girl diet...DS1 2009, DS2 2011.
