Hi everyone,
I'm a week into HE diet and finding it easier than expected but just want to check if a sneaky mcdonalds (Qtr pounder with Cheese Meal) every now and again would be ok and the odd chinese take away i usually go for a chicken satay with noodle dish??
Also any tips on protein and carb snacks?
Thanks

I would say they were ok once in a while, I wouldn't go over board on fast food or take out. Some good snacks are veggies/fruit with peanut butter on them, almonds and dried fruit together, greek yogurt with some granola in it, at night sometimes I would have some dark choclate with almonds.

The problem with take away foods like McDonalds is the spike and drop in your blood sugars, occasionally may be ok, but i wouldnt have the soda with the meal. Chineese is probably a better option, but again just occasionally.
Snack ideas - (Tuna and tomato on crackers), (Avocado, baby spinich, red onion on crackers), Protien shakes, Boiled eggs with friut, peanut butter on rye bread, fruit smoothie with oats, french toast, (greek yogurt with frozen berries and flaxseeds and shredded coconut), (rye crackers with dips such as avocado, tatziki, beetroot), Cottage cheese on crackers, Asparagus wrapped in smoked salmon with some cottage cheese.

with Cinss and dloui...limit the mcdonald's and go for "quality" protein when you can. Protein shakes are great, try an organic egg or a couple of tablespoons of coconut oil, tasty!

YES! I agree with what everyone has said - I'd def. get a meat-heavy burger to slow down your insulin response. Quarter pounder, big mac, Angus - all have a lot of meat and a lot less bun.
Chinese/Asian is better of course, because it's healthier (generally speaking). Go easier on the rice/noodles and heavier on the meat/veg.
Everyone gave you great tips already but a couple others are Larabars, and also deviled eggs (the kind with a sweeter dressing, not just mayo/mustard, will have protein + carbs in it and you can have it with a juice for more carbs)!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
