Stop taking the vitex one or two days before Ov. That will probably coincide with your attempt anyway.

Hi, I hope this isn't hijacking, but can I ask what brand of SP you found in Australia? I saw two at the chemist this morning, but both had nettle and one also contained zinc, which I gather is not ideal for a pink sway? I think they were Blackmores (proserens?) and Nature's Something-or-other.. Oh and they both are sold as purely prostate support, so I expect I'll get some funny looks at the check out!

Hi!

Vitex can be taken ASAP, 800mg each day for the first 14 days of your cycle. It does do "stuff" to your cycle, so I'd suggest going on that for a couple of months before ttc..

Saw palmetto is, recommended by Atomic, not to be taken prior to six weeks before attempt. I think it's a 320mg supp, taken once a day, but don't quote me on that..

They are ok to be taken together, so no worries there.

Ps: I started taking SP and it's completely stuffed my ovulation for the month... So I'd just be prepared for that.

Are you not supposed to take SP 6 weeks before attempt, I didn't know that, I am still taking it!!!! Have I screwed up!!

I stopped taking it. I'm having problems conceiving this time around, so I just started seeing a fertility specialist...I'm also older.

Peb, just make sure you don't take it after ovulation...can cause problems for male babies. It can also delay O.

Peb, I think you misread! Don't take it any more than 6 weeks before your first attempt.

Hey Atomic I am trying to conceive in April 2013 so It's coming up fast and you told me to do Vtex and SP so when do you think is a good idea to start them? Also I was gonna take Zyrtec and give hubby sudafed but he will be on cranberry is that okay?

If starting in April, you could start the V in March or even Feb. SP I would start in March.

DH seems to be able to handle Sudafed better, just give him one and not many doses.

I am taking Vitex but ditched SP as it delayed ovulation from CD17 (average) to CD26 - sticking with the vitex though to sway. I did only take SP for one cycle (days 1-17) so maybe I should have stuck with it a bit longer - just couldnt bear another 40 day cycle!

Stop the SP at CD 12 or 13 rather than going all the way to CD 17 - that's why O was so late.

Before FIRST attempt!! If it takes you some months after you start it to get pg, that's going to add up to longer than 6 weeks on it.

I don't want anyone starting it like a year in advance, 6 weeks is enough, but you can keep taking it while TTC even if it's longer than the 6 weeks out.
