With my first son, all I wanted was beef! And I had not been a beef eater for 12 years prior to that. With my second son, I craved salty things. My favorite was a salt bagel with butter.

I didn't have any cravings as such with DS1, but then he was born at 30 weeks so I never really got into my third trimester. With DS2 all I craved was milk. I had to have a pint before doing anything else each morning. The only thing cravings have taught me is that DS2 doesn't like cows milk!
Personally I don't think there's any link with cravings and gender

SALADS! Salads every day with lunch meat and cheese and strawberries and kiwi fruit with thousand island dressing!!!
Yes, lunchmeat I know.. I didn't know about it.
I can't do salads like that this time with this pregnancy..well I could not until at least 26 weeks.. every time I tried it would come back up. I can do some salads now, but they still aren't too appealing.

I didn't have any cravings with DS1, only aversions. The kind of food I could eat was salty and savoury. With DS2 I craved fruit juice, I would drink a couple of litres a day. It was costing me a fortune, the amount of juice I would buy in a week!
