Licorice Root & Abstain

Im considering whether we start DH on Licorice Root and also do abstain. He has just turned 35, what are your thoughts on this?
He's had his sperm tested and has very good numbers, so no problem there, but he's never had his testosterone levels tested. I am guessing they are not high as he doesn't have a huge sex drive, another reason why I feel abstain is the option for us, I don't think we would be able to manage the FR path!
Also, if he does take LR, what is the dosage? The ones I have found have either 450 or 500mg in each tablet.
What are your thoughts please?

I really am curious about this myself since my husband is 36 and I'm not so sure FR will work for us either hopefully my comment will bump this so we can both have answers!

35 is the age I start to advise people do FR or some other frequency rather than abstain. It has nothing to do with sperm numbers, it's that the older you are, the more often your cells have divided and over a lifetime tiny genetic errors creep in and accumulate and this can increase risks of birth defects and disorders like autism.

That having been said, it's not like a light switch where the day before his 35th b-day all is well, and the day after, he's at some huge risk - it's just that the odds start to go up, and even for older parents with higher risks, the majority of babies are totally normal and healthy.

It's really your call to make. If you are ok with the possibly higher risks of abstain, then go for it.

LR dose is 450 mg taken 3 times a day from your CD 1-CD 14. IF he has any history of liver, kidney, heart disease or high blood pressure, he should skip it.

Thanks for the reply AS. I think we will skip the abstain, not worth the risk IMO. I also don't think we will manage FR though, so might just have to risk blue timing and hope for the best.
