Just had my 18 week scan and it is a beautiful baby boy! I thought we were going to hear boy the whole time, but last week the P.A. that did an ultrasound guessed girl. I still knew in my gut she was going to be wrong but it was still a little let down when we heard the words officially. Anyway, I had my moment of sadness and I'm sure more to come since this is our last. But I'm happy he is healthy and hey, while I won't have my own princess I will be a princess to 3 beautiful boys!

A friend of mine had this with one of her sons...she was pregnant with twins. Did your friend say anything about Trisomy 18?
Did you have an nt scan done? And did they check for 13, 18 and 21? I think that's it. If so, try not to worry about it. Many babies have them and I think they go away before you even deliver.Last edited by ThreeMenAndALAdy; December 13th, 2012 at 03:04 PM.

Thanks guys. I am definitely shedding some tears on and off, but it is good to know I have some place to go where people understand.

Hugs, jheitz, and congrats on your precious boy.
Spinning, I think it's really common, and that your other tests would have shown indicators if there was anything wrong. But I'm thrilled she's still a girl!

He was fine. I think your little lady is fine too. In fact, she pregnant again and this little guy has a cyst too. That's how common it is. The reason I asked about trisomy 18 is that's what they thought it might be. She had an amnio and all was well. She's having another u/s with the little guy she's carrying now on the 18th of this month. It can be a bit nerve wracking but it's amazing how common it is.

My OB told me that choroid plexus cysts have become so common, that they are considered normal variants now as long as they resolved by 24 weeks. Newer ultrasound machines are able to pick these up more readily now, but they are almost always completely benign. Both of my sisters children had them in utero and both of them are just perfect! I understand your worry but I think everything is going to be okay.
