    Wink The Elusive O+12

Is this a hit or a miss?

According to the ovulation wizard online (where you plug in the number of days in your cycle, etc.), ovulation was to occur on Monday.

Took the first OPK on Saturday at 2 pm and I believe it was positive. I would not say a glaring strong positive, just a the two lines were the same color. According to the package directions, that counts. Also according to the package directions, O was supposed to transpire within 36 hours. On Sunday morning the line in question was fainter, but still present. On Sunday evening nothing.

BD on Monday Morning at 10:00.

When the heck did we BD? Before, during or after ovulation? I originally thought it was o+12 ish, but now I'm beginning to think it was at O. Hmmm.... I've love to hear your speculations.

you can't be sure, some people ovulate 6hrs after the first pos OPK, some 48hrs. Even this can vary between cycles.

do you have perfectly regular cycles..? if so you can probably tell exactly the day you'll OV on but not the exact time.

If you were temping you could probably tell the day fairly accurately too, but, again, not the exact time.

On which day did your CM change to less fertile? Usually you OV on the last day of fertile CM.

fingers crossed you got the swimmers there in time!

Cycles were 27 days for the last 3 months. I really can't say about the CM. I THOUGHT it was EWCM on Tuesday, but I don't know if that would even make sense!!

It's just about impossible to time O+12. OPK's only tell you that the LH is surging, you can O anywhere from 12-36 hours after a +OPK. And that's assuming you caught the LH surge at the beginning with your OPK, some women can have a longer surge that can show as positive for a day or longer, so it's just too inexact.

The only way to detect O for sure is on ultrasound.

If I were to guess I'd say you likely BD'ed on O day or within 24 hours after O. It's really hard to know for sure. If you check your CP/CM it probably would give you more indicators. We're all different, but I know for me that my CP will close and dry up within 12 hours after O.

Well, hopefully on the bright side I used rephresh. I tried to find sylk... which is a separate story which involved dragging my entire family around the greater <insert city name here> area looking at various Whole Foods Markets. Which then I ended up buying other organic food stuffs just so I didn't seem like that person going into the 'personal hygiene' section and running out the door. Let me tell you.. my Whole Foods experience makes my faith in sylk waiver. I barely recognized any of the brands there. Like I was in a foreign country. The couple of things that I did recognize were way over priced. I guess I'm a Walmart sort of girl. Makes me wonder if sylk is even FDA approved or whatever, then I'm supposed to put it down there? Hmmm.... It's this kind of wacky stuff that makes me wonder if swaying really works. Kind of like that saliva ovulation predictor. I fell for that one, too. It never worked. Okay, I'm going off on a tangent but one more thing.. I will say that the rephresh is constantly being restocked at Walmart. I wonder how much of it is purchased for swaying. I can't imagine that many people in my area need their VJ ph balanced.

there's evidence that swaying works, so don't doubt that... as for Sylk, not sure you can buy it over here so can't comment
women who get frequent infections down there will want to keep the pH balanced, I expect most people will buy these products for that reason.

You can't tell anything on the basis of when your OPK goes negative...it can take days or the surge can be over in only a few hours. It's just that most people ovulate between 8-48 hours after their first positive OPK, average 36 hours. As long as the test line was as dark as control, it's a positive test.

I think the easiest way to do O+12 is simply to await positive OPK, then BD 48 hours later. You may miss the egg by doing this, but it is stress-free and if you're a believer in O+12 and willing to wait, I think it's the best way to avoid the stress and potential rise in T levels that can come from trying to figure out when to BD. Your timing was really pretty close to that.

PS - thanks for your patience, I have tried to answer this post probably 17 times the last few days and it's like there's a force trying to stop me LOL. Something has gone wrong every time!!!

Some of us have gotten EWCM after ovulation some cycles. When I got my DD I had EWCM for at least 2 days afterwards and thought I had no chance at pg that month because I felt like I'd missed the egg. I was shocked when I found out when I'd ovulated (I had an ultrasound). We BD Thurs and then something like Tue or Wed. and I thought I had Oed on Sun/Mon. But I Oed on Friday and that was the golden egg!

I went into Trader Joe's and had to flee for much the same reason LOL I thought it was kind of a hippie store but everyone in there was super rich and giving me weird looks with my baby sling and 5 children. I bought a pack of juice boxes that cost as much as a small car.
