calling all clomid swayers!

Mrs P = congratulations on your little girl! What was your sway?
Pumpkin = FWIW, I conceived DD1 whilst taking clomid and being on a strict girl diet! I have PCO (not the full syndrome or side effects) I got pg the first month of taking 50mg days 2-6.

I see some take it anywhere form days 2-6 through 5-9... Most docs recommend 3-7 or 5-9. What's the difference? Any benefits to one over another?

i think 3-7 and 4-8 are most common. The later you take it ie4-8 i have heard the better the quality of egg but Im not sure how true this is. Bare in mind you will ovulate anywhere from 7-10 days after the last pill mine though was 15 days. There is no right or wrong way to take it but some people find taking it at night helps avoid some of the side effects. Its something you really need to be sure about taking.

It has to be taken within the first five days of your cycle, my doctor said cd2 to 6 as that was what the guidlines were on his notes thing but i was on cd3 already so i took it cd3 to cd7. The theory goes the earlier on the cycle the more eggs are produced (and therefore the more chance of multiples), the later on in the cycle the less eggs but they are of better quality. No idea how this works in reality though and although it may reduced the risks of multiples i have seen twins on medication taken later (but then twins occur in natural pregnancies to so it may just be one of those things and although clomid ups your chances of twins its only by a few percent, although we seem to have had a fair few on here)

taking it earlier = more eggs but some will be too undeveloped to be fertilized (better odds of twins but possibly lower chance of conception)

taking it later = fewer eggs but better developed (better odds of pg with a singleton but twins are still possible)
