Luckily my mil hardly speaks English and I hardly speak French so other than hearing about how crappy a mom she is from my husband, she's fab
Sometimes I'm sad I'm not close to his side as I'm a real family person.. But they have so much drama that I really think I'm better off!!

Wow Brandles absolutely no way I'd let my mil anywhere near me when I'm labour!! I wouldn't even really want my mum there tbh. Living abroad has its advantages in that respect, I get to rest up in hospital with only hubby and the boys to visit me until I come home and allow visitors.

Seriously... MIL anywhere near me before/during/after, forget about it. That would be horrible. I was kind of feeling awkward about my husband's insistance that she come over to see our son when I was 2 days postpartum. I had my mom there and I was like... that was all that counted to me. Hahaha, I am SO horrible!!!

My MIL lives about 15 mins from us, she didnt come to visit after we had DD, i actually just ran into her at the supermarket when DD was about 3 months old and they met for the first time there. I dont even know if she knows we are expecting again. She couldn't care less.

Wow Cinss, that is ad :-(. I thought mine was bad. They never call or anything. Dhs dad was in the hospital and we didn't even know. I have had mil purposely avoid me and even walk away mid conversation once in a store. They will come see the baby when he is born but they are not excited or happy about it.

Oh wow these stories are sad My MIL is crazy but she is a big part of our lives. She takes our boys out almost every weekend (I dont totally love that idea but it is nice for them to spend time with their Nana) My DH gets angry with her a lot but he loves her a lot too. Brandles I think it is a really sweet gesture, one I was contemplating (albeit very very briefly lol) I guess its totally up to you hun. Im have a C/S this time and I certainly wont be choosing anyone but my DH to be there but good on you for being so kind hearted - I bet your MIL would be thrilled!

I have a question.. Are you guys getting the whooping cough vaccine after baby is here?? Are you asking others around you ie: Nanna's, husbands etc to get it before your due date?? I never contemplated getting it last time but this time I am thinking about it.. My mum is an ambo driver so she is happy to have it if I want her too as she thinks she probably should anyway and my DH is totally fine with it. I said yes to having it after bubs arrives as they do it free in hospital straight after I believe. I know for a fact my sister and her young son (4) wont have it. She is totally vaccine free but it worries me that her and her son will want to visit after baby but they have had no vaccines at all... She'd flip if I mentioned I didnt want her and her son visiitng my baby before the 2 month mark.. What are your thoughts?

Oh and a big happy poo dance for you Lassie x

Glad you were able to go, Lassie.

I feel for those of you with in law issues. (((hugs))) DH made the decision to cut ties with them. Not for lack of trying to get along but there is only so much you can do in dealing with toxic individuals. I feel bad in a way for my kids but I know we're all better off in the long run.

I didn't know much about the whooping cough vaccine until all the tv commercials started coming on. I've asked my regular OB about them and he said it was up to me when I could receive it. Either right after delivery or come in on my own.. I'm getting it right after the baby is born.
