    Tell me about Clomid please...

    Hi,

So I would be interested to find out how you managed to get it, did you have to jump through hoops to get it prescribed, etc?

And also if someone who does not need it for fertility uses it, but would take it for swaying purposes only, does it increase the risk of multiple pregnancy compared to someone taking it for fertility issues as they are ovulating okay without it?

Also, were you supervised while taking it (i.e. scans to see how many follicles) or did you take it without supervision?

    Thanks.

    Hi GeCon,

After 6 mnths TTC I was referred to a specialist from my GP (family doctor) and after a lot of tests, we found out I had PCOS and was not ovulating well. I was then prescribed Clomid on a very low dose, monitored with blood tests and scans. This is how it is done in NZ, I'm not sure where you are.

If you get hold of it and take it for swaying purposes only, only take a low dose (50mg is normal, I was on 25 mg).

    Good luck!
    Update! Identical twin girls!

After seeing a HT doctor who mentioned that I have PCovaries I went to my OB and asked him to do a work up. He wouldn't do it since I am thin and have conceived naturally and he didn't have concerns about PCOS. A few months later I went back and told him I had been trying to get pregnant for 6 mos and had a short LP of 10 days. He asked if I wanted Clomid and I said yes. Easy as that. I didn't take it in my sway though since I was too scared of multiples. HTH!

Yes, that's the thing I find SO BIZARRE about doctors and Clomid. Either they hand it out like candy or else they guard it as jealously as a dragon with a golden egg LOL. And everyone please note - the above poster was talking about the SAME doctor.

If you want Clomid, it can be best not to mention the C word because they get weird about it. Just go in and describe what is going on with your cycles, if you've taken ages to get pg and you have a short LP, you should be given Clomid. If your doctor will not give you Clomid for a short LP or poo-poohs your concerns, get another doctor.

Just thought I'd update that I managed to get the Clomid. However, I was at the same time also diagnosed with mild PC ovaries.

And it will be under supervision.

Glad you managed to get hold off it. I've been wondering if my doctor would put me on it because I have very irregular periods and sometimes have over 5 weeks

    opps....

Period and long periods. Doctors usually say go back on the pill but obviously I don't want to do that because we are TTC from April.

Not sure if Clomid would help or not?!xx

I think, she did, Anchor. I have seen her sway in the sway section.
