It's odd not to offer a nuchal, well it's odd for here. Mine is a real "industry", I have my bloods, go to a special USS place where they only do pregnant women, get scanned and then meet with the fetal medicine guy to discuss my overall "risk" based on age, bloods and scan. You're not necessarily going to pick up Down Syndrome at the 20 week scan if the heart etc is normal.

Even if you get an abnormal result and don't pursue it cos you wouldn't consider termination etc it's good to be aware of any potential problems earlier, I think.

Not to mention that the stills from my video are so vastly different, it's like I have two babies in there. But I don't.

Also, I scheduled an elective scan for when I am 16 weeks but I found out a couple of days ago that they found a small amount of tricuspid regurgitation in bub's heart. Supposedly it's normal blood flow variation *most* of the time but they still like to move up the anatomy scan to 18 weeks instead of 20 weeks. The elective scan place only does ultrasounds if you've had previous "normal" ultrasounds, so do I have to cancel that now? So confused.
hey sorry to hear of worries about the health of your bubba! if you just want the 16 week scan for gender i'd go for it and pretend you didn't realsie if they say anything and you can say to them i'm having an 18wk scan for this possiable condition so need to look at that xx

I didn't get a NT scan because I had the MaterniT21 testing done. I would do what Atomic suggested, tell them that you aren't available because you thought it was being done today and then tell them your availability is somewhere in the 13 week range.

I got a 13 week scan because I told the MA that I wanted them to rule out Turners. When I had MaterniT21 done they didn't test for Turners but a week later they started. I know it seems stupid but that is the game you have to play to get what you want when you want it
They offer a test that is just like the MaterniT2I but it doesn't give any gender results she said. But I do not qualify for the test under my insurance so she said it might cost $700! I'm not 35 yet, if I was 35 or older the insurance would more than likely cover it. I have never ever had this happen, with all my other pg they did it at 12 weeks. I guess I was hoping for a scan at 1st appt, 12 weeks, and 20 weeks like all my others. I think I will just call and reschedule, I have no reason to believe there is anything wrong right now, and I think it is actually more beneficial to have the scan later than sooner. I'm still bummed though!

Ugh the more I think about it, the more I am just not happy with this place. I might just start looking for a new OB. I know that my GP really wanted me to go to her, but she is a really young new dr and I told her I would just be sticking with my OB. I might give her a call and see what they have to offer. Has anyone ever switched DR's before, after going to the first appt? Has anyone ever used their family Dr instead of an OB?

Not sure how that works... if you use your family Dr. is that who delivers the baby? If so I would say a big fat no to that You should switch if you aren't comfortable. I didn't switch with DS1 when I wish I would have. I knew after a couple of appointments that I didn't like her and she was insanely incompetent and I still stuck with her. This is how I look at it... I don't really care who does my appointments. Any yahoo can measure my belly and tell me how dilated I am. What I want is someone who is going to be there for the delivery because if things go wrong you want someone who knows what they are doing. If you don't like them then switch now... no big deal to switch now.

Well that is sort of the reason I want to switch, they say that more than likely my dr wont be the one to actually deliver my baby and that they can only guarantee that it will be one of their 6 docs at the office. I don't like that, all my docs have been the ones to do the deliveries with my other 3 kiddos!
