Why do I hear so much about timing around the Internet?! I'm trying to deprogram myself from believing it but it still stresses me out. Why do so many people still do it? I'm in a group on babycenter and 3 girls are having boys and did timing amongst other factors I'm just so confused and I think it's be because timing was the first sway factor I learned about. Plus I'm like everyone else and want to do everything perfect!

Because it's been around so long, it's the one thing that most people have heard of. Your grandma, mom, cousin, aunt, pastor's wife and the gal at the grocery store have all heard of it - even doctors and nurses - and for whatever reason it's taken on a life of its own and no one ever gets the message that it has been TOTALLY debunked. We know exactly what Shettles did wrong, the mistake that he made, and yet we still can't get rid of timing. I think a lot of people hear "timing sways" and then in their minds they turn that into "well since I got a boy that means I must have gotten pg at ovulation" even tho they actually DTD 2 times before ovulation and just forgot about those.

When you say DTD every 2-3days before +opk, do I do this with or without protection? I guess since timing does not matter at all no protection needed? It's becoming more confusing...my DH thinks i'm insane...LOL

During the month you are TTC forget about the protection and just go for it with the pre-seed every 2-4 days after AF until you get a +OPK. Then BD at +OPK then the next AM and PM (so aiming for 3 attempts in the 36 hrs after +OPK)

It is up to you, the important thing is that DH is releasing every 2-4 days. There may be something to regular exposure to his semen that makes you more boy friendly and the chemistry in condoms may be somewhat pink-friendly so if you are just going to TTC that month anyway, and timing doesn't sway, then you may want to just dtd unprotected in hopes that there may be a benefit to be had.
