Do they have protein? That is my main concern with the whole grains. I think the plain old styrofoam-flavored ones are best but they are sure hard to find for some reason. I'm sure they're fine, if you like them. But if you hate them and are just choking them down, it's probably best to find the unflavored ones and choke those down instead, just to be safe. That having been said, at some point this whole "eat this food and not that one" gets into the nitpicky department and I think this is one of those times!

I would ~prefer~ that you limit healthy fats like those found in nuts as a general rule (this is more for others who stumble upon this thread than for you jjc) but since I know that you are taking the Chitosan (absorbs fats from the digestive tract) then I think 1 T of peanut butter is fine as long as you are eating low-protein in other ways.

I wonder if I'm getting too hung up over individual foods too. I just got a low fat chocolate mousse out of the fridge and noticed they only have 60 cals, 2.5g protein, they're only 3% fat - no salt level listed but it isn't an ingredient. The ingredients are:

Water,Concentrated skimmed milk ,Milk chocolate (5%) (Milk, Sugar, Cocoa mass, Cocoa butter, Vegetable fat, Emulsifier (E442), Flavourings) ,Fructose ,Fat reduced cocoa ,Maltodextrin ,Pork gelatine ,Dextrose ,Emulsifiers (E472b, E471) ,Vegetable oil ,Stabilisers (E410, E412, E415) ,Sweeteners (Acesulfame K, Aspartame) ,Contains a source of Phenylalanine

So there's aspartame! Have I misunderstood soomething to be thinking that this might be ok on the girl low everything diet? It seems like it's too much of a treat!

It's hard not to, even for me sometimes and I KNOW there are no magic foods!!! When I was answering this thread I had to stop and snap myself out of it!

The choc mousse might be bad on a few diff levels though. Choc has antioxidants in it - strike one. Pork gelatin - probably not a lot but still - strike two. 3% fat, not a TON of fat but still it's fat that you don't HAVE to eat, testosterone and estrogen are MADE out of fats and cholesterols (DK how much cholesterol in there). Strike 3. BUT that having been said, if it helps you stick to the overall goals of the diet at large and you only eat one here and there, they could be a good treat.

I read about chocolate being a no after I wrote this! I think I'm going to stop looking for new foods all the time as I have it in my head that my body won't think times are hard if it gets a massive variety of foods - and if I'm only going to be doing this for 2 or 3 months (please!) then what I have is good enough!

That is partly my thinking as well, although I am still going to add the lowfat choc mousse to the Sweets and Treats thread...what brand was it, if you would be so kind??

    Cadbury's - I'm in the UK

I read on another thread (or possibly this one!) about some yogurts that you'd liked, which were fat free with aspartame. I've eaten Muller Lights in the past when losing weight - what do you think as an equivalent for us UK girlies?:

Yogurt,Raspberry Puree (8%) ,Cranberry Juice from Concentrate (3%) ,Fructose ,Modified Maize Starch ,Gelatine ,Acidity Regulators: Sodium Citrates, Citric Acid ,Flavourings ,Sweetener: Aspartame ,Colour: Carmines ,Contains a source of Phenylalanine

Nutritional Info per 100g (each pot is double this)

    Protein 4.2g -
    Carbohydrate 7.8g -

Those look good to me!! They are sweetened with sugar rather than aspartame but I don't think sugar is the worst thing for TTC a girl!!

Thanks Atomic. When I was in the supermarket I saw another yogurt (which, again, I've eaten before when dieting!) which I noticed didn't have gelatine and is lower in everything else but it has 'good bacteria' in it and I don't know if this is ok for a girl sway. These are the ingredients, your thoughts are much appreciated:

Fat free yogurt with Bifidus ActiRegularis® (skimmed milk, skimmed milk powder, yogurt cultures), Raspberry (9%), Water, Fibre (oligofructose), Stabilisers (modified maize starch, carrageenan, xanthan gum), Acidity regulators (sodium citrate, citric acid), Concentrated elderberry juice, Flavouring, Sweeteners (aspartame, acesulfame K).

I think that one looks good too. Good bacteria can help with either sway because they can help keep you from getting yeast infections.
