Hello,
I'm hoping somebody can help me out with the 2 questions I have on the crystal blue fertility monitor & also a question about Clomid.
I have a 23 day cycle & O on CD13, and thats the same every month (used to O on CD17 prior to Vitex so this is a huge LP for me now haha).
On CD13 I get VERY uncomfortable cramping, pinching, pressure feelings, have very watery CM & temp spikes & starts rising from there on. I'm very confident that's my O day.
I used CBFM for the first time this month as a practice run. It gave me high readings every day from CD9. On CD12 I got my first peak reading and also on CD13.
This month I had all the aches, pains and CM on CD12, the first day of my peak reading.
I know that the pains don't necessarily mean O, which is why I need to get some advice..
-What's the average of peak days you get prior/during/after O? Is it strange that I potentially only got a peak on O day or 1 day before?
I will be taking Clomid (monitored) next month. I know that Clomid can give false high readings on the CBFM.
-when do you normally O on Clomid? I will be taking it 3-7.
I just wanted to get an idea on both questions so I know approx when to DTD. We are planning on abstain at this point, so I don't want to waste my only batch.
So nervous now... Please bring on my
TIA

Advice on CBFM & Clomid

I am not sure I understand this right. Your luteal phase does not usually change in length even if your ovulation day does. The reason your cycles are longer/shorter is that the ovulation day changes.
The number of Lows and Highs can change, but the number of Peaks is always 2. It will detect your 1st Peak and will automatically give you a 2nd Peak the day after followed by a High and back to Low. I have fed my monitor used a Low stick on the 2nd Peak day and it gave me a Peak. It is programmed to give you a 2nd Peak. Most people (myself included) ovulate on the day of the 2nd Peak. I think you usually ovulate approx. 24-36 hours after the 1st Peak, which is usually around the end of the 2nd Peak day.
It is therefore not strange that you only got a Peak on ovulation day or the day before. It is exactly as it should be. It tells you the two most fertile days, the day before the egg is released and the day of ovulation.
For me the CBFM has still worked fine during my two Clomid cycles and if you search for some charts on FF, you will find plenty of other women who it seemed to work fine for too.
I took the Clomid CD5-9 and ovulated on CD19 and CD20 (compared to CD25 and 26 on Vitex). I got Highs from CD9, which I think is due to the Clomid.
Sadly, there is no set day when you will ovulate on Clomid. The rule is 5 to 10 days after the last pill, but it can still differ for some women.
Have you see this calculator? It is quite helpful and gives you a rough idea on timing:

Well, you already know my view on only one attempt whilst on Clomid (when I PM'ed you). When will you be making your attempt? The day of your 1st Peak (O-1) or 2nd Peak (Ovulation day)?Last edited by GeCon; April 25th, 2013 at 07:01 AM.

Thanks for the reply.
I'm confused- I thought LP was the days between O and your period beginning again.
Prior to Vitex, I would O on CD17 & begin bleeding 5-6 days later.
I now O on cd13 & AF arrives 10-12 days later.
I will prob DTD on the first day of peak reading. I wanted to do abstain with a cut off but I can see now that's virtually impossible as I won't know when I will O whilst on Clomid.
I know it's prob not smart to abstain while taking Clomid but I just feel I need to do something different to BD every other day like I did with both my DS'.
If it doesn't work next month, I'll change it to FR. I just don't think I can stick it out.

Sorry, I read that your LP just changed from one cycle to another. But if you have taken Vitex, it makes sense that your LP has lengthened, which in your case is a good thing as 5-6 days LP before Vitex is quite short.
I am glad you see my point that abstain with a cut-off is not really feasible when taking Clomid. I do understand that you feel you need to do something different to before, but if you look at the Clomid stats you will see that most ladies had more than one attempt.
FR can be a bit tricky, maybe compressed FR might work better for you?

Can't tell when you will o on Clomid, unfortunately it varies.
If you MUST do abstain plus one attempt, make it the first month on Clomid, two tops.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
