I suspect my DH has/had high pH all along, and possibly did for our sway attempt. I bought test strips from eBay and I'm thinking maybe they were inaccurate. How are you testing your DH's pH?
Your DH may want to go to the doctor to be checked out and ruled out for a possible infection. A pH of 9 is a bit high though. Don't worry too much about this right now. If you're going to have DH take cranberry or baby aspirin and licorice root, that should help negate the high pH. Good luck with your girl sway!!2012 (my sweetest little bug)

For LR, DH should take it from AF - O or 14 days after your last period. Cranberry he can take all the time but make sure he's not taking too much of it! I think DH started taking LR and cranberry about 2.5 months before our attempt. We find out what we're having on the 24th... I'm so nervous!!!
My sway is posted in the TTC Girl Sways forum feel free to read it for ideas. Good luck!2012 (my sweetest little bug)

Personally I do not believe pH has much at all to do with gender swaying, at least not in a straightforward way. Both X and Y sperm do best in pH in the 7's; neither X nor Y like very high or very low pH.
Your pH of 5 is perfectly fine. Studies have shown that if your pH is below 6 in the cervix, you will have NO motile sperm in there - not X or Y. NO sperm like pH that low, it just isn't true.
Very high pH is probably no better for sperm than very low pH is.
You may need to have DH go to the doctor because sometimes a high pH can be becasue he has an infection in his testicles.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

My DH had higher pH too and he went to see his doctor after we tested to rule out any infections or issues. He was fine it turns out, but best to get it checked out just in case!

I've always doubted the pH thing too. I certainly wouldn't waste my time checking cervical mucous or anything, because if it's good enough for an X to get through, then surely it's good enough for a Y to get through. After researching Shettles for a while (including taking out his book in the library) I call utter rubbish because most of what he says purely doesn't make sense. When you think about nature, why would a specific vaginal environment actually favour X or Y sperm? If that was the case then the cut off of 2 days (more likely to result in pregnancy) would mean the gender imbalance would mean less boys, but this isn't the case. The science just doesn't back up what Shettles says. Also, why the hell would ions affect the gender outcome? I know plenty of people who have lavender around the house and still have boys! I can understand nail varnish or hair dye because you're inhaling harmful chemicals, thus swaying girl but lavender. By the way, the lavender example was taken from IG.
Shifting onto the French Gender diet, I actually think it's just an altered version of the Shettles Method. The diet seems relatively similar and the theory revolves around the same thing. Why can't you have bread or cheese when swaying girl? The simple answer is that you can and it won't affect the sway all that much.

Well said!! After wasting a year of my life trying to get a bfp via the Shettles & Ig diet methods I'm so happy that I found this forum!!! Successful gender swaying just HAS to be simple & common sense as otherwise there would be too much of a skewed ratio of boys to girls. I don't believe in any of the ions/ph stuff either. Millions of baby girls are conceived without the parents even knowing about that stuff.
