    BBT Chart

Okay - got my BBT chart in post with Thermometer and stuff - all is good for pinpointing O-day. Now I was reading instructions and it said "for best results on your Basal Temp we highly recommend rectal readings...as under arm is only surface temp and Oral is inaccurate up to 0.6 degrees" Now I wouldn't have a problem doing a rectal reading - but after 5 kids I do have some piles (TMI?) and don't fancy aggravating them...any advice?

    Thanks x

Ok - bit personal asking this (sorry) - but how deep would I do that then? It's says for rectal: 2cm and for oral: under the back off the tongue (which is about 2cm) - so would it be the same?

Lol I suppose it goes in about 4cm or so. Probably about midway from entrance to cervix. Htp

Good heavens!!! No need to do that!

Vaginally is fine and most people have adequate readings with oral temps. Just don't switch back and forth between the two. - if you do oral, stick with oral, if vag, stick with that.

lol thanks Atomic - not sure what I'll try now. Thinking vag would be most accurate though? I've never charted before (starting with next cycle) so want to be prepared - get what you're saying about sticking with one...just need to decide which one...

I have been charting since January and have always taken my temp orally - the graphs look very much the same each month and I am sure you will find oral temps are accurate enough. I take my temp while still in bed and my son usually comes in and hugs and kisses me and looks amused at the "temp show" - imagine if I were doing rectal or vaginal temps...! Ha ha ha

Good point!! I actually didn't even consider the kids lol Orally it is (my bedroom is NOT the haven it's supposed to be and is often over-run with little people)!! Thank you everyone for some great advice xx

Yep, same here. I always had great results with oral temping and as Atomic said as long as you don't switch back and forth, you should be absolutely fine.
