falling- i wouldn't do the turn thing at 37 weeks if it's only 50% chance and could have you getting a c-section right then. babe has lots of time to turn. have you looked at spinning babies? went to chiro? my babe was tranverse and flipping at 35 weeks but has been good so far. Just have mw keep checking and now that babe is head down look fo rthings to keep babe that way so nothing that is for breach babes a good one that is any postion babe is this- The Inversion only a minute of your day

Im not sure i could ever bring myself to do the ECV anyways...but every time i give birth my water breaks first. And with DS2 i gave birth at 38 weeks. The risk of cord prolapse with a sideways baby is very high (way higher than a breech) and so im just not comfortable with that risk to await labor. If my waters wouldn't go before labor started id be totally open to that, but so far that has not been my case. But i may not even have to worry about this anyways bc she changed positions (although she is classed as unstable lie bc she goes transverse, head down, transverse, back to head down, etc)

Yes. i have been doing everything from spinning babies (especially inversions) to chiropractic care (2-3x per week since before i was pregnant), Websters Technique for the last 4 weeks, swimming, walking, ball boucning, stair climbing, moxibustion, pustualla (sp? its a homeopathic thing), sleeping positions, pressure points, relaxation, visualization, body massaging, cold pea pack, flashlight, music, warm wash cloth....ive tried it all except for acupuncture.

She did flip about two days ago (though she is an unstable lie). TBH, i dont think any of these things helped as she did it in my sleep and after coming to the acceptance that what will be will be and i stopped trying everything for about a week (i did all of this for 6+ weeks without sucess). And actually, i all but gave up on all of these (except the chiro care bc that is good for other reasons too), and i honestly think not worrying about it anymore the most helpful. Im 35+3....hoping she stays this way now! but she just has so much room in there so im not sure if she will stay this way or not, but im glad (for now) she is no longer sideways.

My baby was transverse until around 36 weeks and then turned head down and stayed there. he was up so high that they had to do an ultrasound to confirm that he had turned because the heartbeat was so high in my uterus that they couldnt be positive. Hopefully yours will stay too.

i don't know why they would have you stressing that 6 weeks ago. babes change postion all the time. I think it is great that you have accepted whatever will be but hoping that babe stays put for you

I was stressed about it. Me.(not them) I knew there was plenty of time but i also have severe pelvic organ prolapse so i knew that this could have gotten rough getting her head down. (it's a severe case). No one was worried about it but me. But even bigger than that is how much a transverse hurts!!! I was in soooo much pain! Babies do not fit that way well at all. It hurts. Therefore I wanted her moved asap

I am planning an out of hospital birth with MWs and state law says baby needs to be head down by 37 weeks or else i cant birth with them. (unless the baby actually flips head down before labor but with a baby laying sideways it is a big risk of cord prolapse if your waters go and mine went at 38 weeks with DS2 and my waters go before labor every time...) Im middle of 35 weeks now...it's not unreasonable to have a back up plan in case things have to change. It's not that im planning on changing these things. Im sticking with my MWs for the moment, but i think failing to have a back up plan if baby didn't move would cause me a lot of undue stress for not being prepared for that possibility. It's not THEM (the MWs) stressing out about it, it's ME of course, the law really dictates how they have to act too (which drives me bonkers!). im not comfortable with waiting until the last min to change plans if i have to.

If i were planning a hospital birth, im sure they wouldn't even be concerned.

Morning ladies anymore babies on the horizon ? I still have 10 days plus my usual extra 10-14 days as am usually late !!
I was 2/5th head down last time I saw midwife 2 weeks ago but last night typically I think baby flipped as seem to be getting kicks in a very odd place compared to the last 4 weeks !! Grrr
I was hoping to get a sweep today 38+4 as baby is measuring big so would rather it came sooner than later but it's unlikely as protocol here is first sweep at 40+5 !!! Unfortunately I also seem to have a severe prolapse so not sure the mw would even find my cervix and am worried how it will affect a natural birth both during and also how but will affect me after :-(

Falling2Grace, I just wanted to jump on and say that something similar happened to me. My first two DDs were straightforward normal deliveries and DD3 ended up being a c-section for transverse lie. I'm going to be honest and admit that I felt cheated of the experience and the endorphins of a nice normal delivery and the recovery time was a pain. She breastfed like a champ though and I had loads of milk.

However, 17 months on I've completely moved on, pretty much forgotten that she didn't come out the same way as her sisters (lol) and am completely unbothered by my scar. I'm hoping for a VBAC this time but, to be honest, another section wouldn't be the end of the world.

thank you for that. Luckily she has been head down for record time (going on day 3 or 4 now) so hopefully she stays that way, but if not, im at peace with whatever. I know i did everything i could and what will be will be...i honestly think, so far, the hardest part is that many, though well meaning, act like if you tried harder or your tried more your baby will just flip. ...for a bit it really got me down bc it sended me the message that if i just did more then the baby wouldn't be in the position she is. If i prayed harder or stood on my head longer then she would be just flip. ...though i know everyone is well meaning, in some ways, when it doesn't work, it places the blame on mom and so in that freaky little way i was more upset over feeling like it was my fault instead of feeling hopeful that things would just happen and she would flip. That is why, i think when i came to this place of peace and acceptance about what happens will happen and trying to relax about it, i honestly think thats what worked. I was just too tense and trying too much and worrying too much for it to happen...but at the same i also feel some babies are like that for a reason. It's not bc the mom didn't do X, Y, or Z. Some babies need to be born a certain way. Sometimes there's a reason for it. I think.

Im glad to hear your positive story. If plans change and i need a CS for transverse lie, im going to view it as a positive experience. She may be born differently than my others, but im okay with that bc i know ive educated myself and i know ive done everything in my power and at the end of the day if thats how she needs to be born than thats the birth she needed. I think we like to think we are in control of every position our child gets into and maybe in some cases it is so (since we know some positions lead to optimal fetal positioning) but honestly i dont think that is always the case (especially when you are dealing with severe prolapse or some other anatomical issue). I know with DS1 he was born face up and the was one hell of a labor-ouch! back labor!!!- but i did all of the optimal positioning during my pregancy with him (im a child birth educator and birth doula, so i know some tricks), but even though i did all of that, he still didn't move out to a better position. At the end of the day he was born face up. And i know these positions during pregnancy really can help, but sometimes babies just have to be born a certain way. For whatever reason, even if we dont understand it.

Wow f2g... Where do you live? I had an unsuccessful ecv last week for breech and I didn't have any drugs and the risk of going into labour was low. It all sounds very dramatic that they have to give you a spinal. It hurt but it was more uncomfortable than painful. My hospital are supporting a breech delivery unless I need to be induced for some reason. I hope your bub stays put.
