Why do we say 12 week genderscans are too early?

In my desperation I've been googling around trying to look for weaknesses in the nub theory and it is more often wrong when girl is predicted than boy, I whish it was opposite but I do come across many replies saying 12 weeks is way to early, in my eyes it isn't when comparing to accuracy. Comments?

The theory is that the boy nub could still rise....in other words, it could LOOK like a girl, but actually be a boy.
And since I've gotten a lot of girl guesses on my nub shot that was done at 12 weeks, 3 days, I know exactly how you feel!!! LOL
    Good luck!!!

Any idea when the nub is supposed to stop rising?

I've read it's usually a done deal by 13 weeks...hopefully someone with more knowledge & experience will be able to chime in, too.

It's more than just the accuracy of the nub shot itself though. It's harder to get a good picture at 12 weeks too. And so that leaves people peering at grainy ultrasound photos when if they had just waited a few more days they would pretty much know.

Personally I don't find the 12 week shots at all accurate. Sure, some of them end up being correct but random chance would have some of those ending up being correct.

I think everyone should wait until 13 weeks because it's more trustworthy and reliable.

It's a THEORY. It's not exact because the baby is only 12 weeks. Nothing is 100% at 12 weeks!
