    Something I have noticed...

Hi, Hope every one is well.
I am going ttc a Girl soon and have done a lot of reading on here over the past year and brought a plan (thank you atomic and team.)I have also been asking friends etc a few sneaky questions about diets.

I have noticed a lot of my very slim friends who have never been on diets but eat a fair amount of meat, nuts, cereal, high protein vegetarian foods and snack have got boys.2 of my sisters have boys as well. One is over weight and eats a lot of different foods/snacks during the day. the other is slim and snacks on junk/meat during the day.

Then you got the dieters and the really slim friends who just eat a small meal 2-3 times a day (even with a small amount of meat)and they have girls.
I have noticed as well people who have done weight watchers seem to conceive more girls, (again a diet. I've been asking people at my weight watcher meeting sneaky questions about their diets before and after children. Many have been to weight watchers before lost weight got pregnant and had a girl and have come back to lose baby weight. Some didn't do plan properly ,cheated all the time put on weight had boys)
I think this just proves what Atomic is saying....
Losing weight, cutting down food, protein and fat and not snacking ,just having the 2-3 small meals a day seems to give you a good chance of trying to conceive a girl.
Any one else noticed anything like this?
I did lose a stone so far with weight watchers(17lbs so far this year) but was very bad over past 3 wks and put 5lbs back on! A big no no! Back on track now though and still doing my hour walk every day so lets hope I stick to it for the next 2/3 months! x

I am veggie anyway and have been since a young age. I know that being veggie kind of sways anyway, yet most of the veggie friends that I know have all had boys! I only know of one friend who has had a girl. This has made me curious to know what element of their diet/lifestyle has made them have blue. Personally my gut instincts lead me to think its intake of protein. There is a lot if protein in the meatless products out there and I think this could have a lot to do with it.
Its really interesting learning about other peoples lifestyles, right?!!!x

I have noticed the same thing. My MIL for example, had GBG and then said she gave upon trying to lose baby weight, stay slim, etc and had BBBB.

My mom was an up and downer, sometimes very heavy and sometimes very slim. She had a mix of boys and girls.

It seems that a lot of country music stars have all girls or all boys. I bet it is because they are either dieting to stay thin or they are healthy and hearty!

Fun to see how these trends match up to the hypothesis!

I am naturally a thin person. I have three boys.
I never really monitored my protein, but i LOVE dairy and carbs.
Typically I skip breakfast (normally, without trying for a sway).
I guess I have a higher fat diet. I eat an entire carton if ice cream just about every 3 days. I eat a lot of cheese. I do have meat every day though.

It has me torn, because after reading Atomics posts I can see where I might be unintentionally swaying blue (also interesting about the cal/mag controversy post)...but at the same time some of the things I naturally do sway pink (skipping breakfast, high carb).

Im still reading and trying to figure out what to do when i TTC but I think I am deff going to try a LE diet.

    Totally interesting.

None of the tactics are magic bullets, you understand. It is the overall makeup of your diet. People single out these little details but it NEVER comes down to a little detail like that. This is not a "light switch" diet where one aspect can make or break a sway.

Protein + carbs sways blue, so if you're eating a lot of dairy and having meat with carbs, that's a BLUE sway tactic, not a pink one. I also have always had tons of dairy and got 4 boys doing that.

Eating an entire carton of ice cream every three days is a great way to get boys. I used to eat 4 oz of cheese a day when I got a couple of my sons.

Thanks for the reply. I have been reading a lot of your posts for more information. I totally understand what you mean about it being a combined effort, not just one little aspect.

It is very interesting to read these posts and think that I maybe have been unintentionally swaying blue the entire time!
Sometimes I will read something and think "oh no wonder I have three boys" lol.

I know! I will always to this day wonder about DS 4, what would have happened if I hadn't launched "the great sway of 2009" and just gotten pg with him. There are tons of months where I think I could have gotten a girl if I had just so happened to get pg that month...just my "bad" luck *(not really!!) tht I always got pg in months where I was boying-it-up.

Atomic - I am practically living off white rice and baked potatoes at the mo (love em!), but am keeping my protein low. Does high carbs and low protein sway pink or should I make an effort to lower the carbs in general?
    Thanks!x

Yes, high carbs and lower protein sways pink (has been shown to in animals)

You do not need to track or monitor carbs while swaying pink as long as you do not have insulin resistance. Just by virtue of the calorie limits you will be eating less carbs than normal (for most people anyway) and it's not even necessary to do it.

PLEASE don't worry about mixing protein and carbs for your PINK sways, ladies. The only reason I mention it is because people look at these things in isolation (such as, the poster saying she ate high carbs and skipped breakfast) and say, "well that can't possibly sway because I did that and I have all boys" but if you eat an overall blue-friendly diet, the bulk of the diet is what does the heavy lifting in terms of a sway.

I really don't want you pink swayers worrying about whether you are eating protein or carbs. That is only for blue swayers - they get best results eating protein and carbs at every meal and snack. Pink swayers can and should eat both protein and carbs too; you are eating so much less protein than the blue swayers are and eating much less often, that it doesn't affect your blood sugar in a "blue" direction to do this.

Blue swayers - try for protein and carbs at every meal and snack, eat 3 meals a day including breakfast and 3-5 snacks, 2200-2500 cals and 90+ g protein

Pink swayers - eat 2-3 meals a day, skip breakfast, do not snack, 1500-1800 cals a day, 40-50 g protein...see how there is a huge difference already?? It is FINE for pink swayers to eat both pro and carbs at a meal, it's in a totally different scenario than blue swayers are in.
