    GD vs IG websites...

Please forgive me if this is an inappropriate question (I'm new here) but is there a rivalry between gebderdreaming and ingender? I've looked at the ingender site and they talk about "that other website" or "the site we can't talk about". Are they meaning this site? What gives? What's the main differences between the two? More women seem to succeed here after failing there. I wonder what the philosophical differences are?
Thanks. Again, sorry if I'm not supposed to talk about this, or if I'm bringing up bad stuff. I'm just curious

Nope. Not rivals. They don't mention the name so they do not "advertise" our site on there because they are afraid they will lose more users.

We just have a VERY different approach to swaying.

They lost me when they say you can see the difference between XX and XY sperm using a kid's microscope purchased from Toys R Us. I can't handle that level of fiction.

A few years ago, the owner of that site decided to take a break and did not maintain the site and it constantly crashed which made it unusable. A couple of us then decided to make a website with better information, fact-based swaying info that we thought gave people the best chance at conceiving their dream gender. There was so much incorrect information on the old site, that I simply could not take it anymore and if you posted anything to question it, it was not appreciated at all.

So, GenderDreaming was created and we feel our approach has a solid scientific basis behind it and gives you the best chance possible to succeed.

I'm sure someone else will chime in if I'm wrong (and please DO!) but this is how I understand it:

Most of us in the beginning, atomic included, came from IG. Atomic was kristendoggirl there, and her original Trivers-Willards essay is still posted on the IG sway forum. Atomic and Tamara, the woman who heads the IG sway forum, are actually friends. But atomic wanted to do her own sway forum based on her own research and observations. In my opinion, this is what separates the two the most. The IG sway method has not changed in all this time, they don't really try to keep track of what works or doesn't, and I tend to think they're a bit caught up in the "dogma" of swaying, like the irrefutable "truth" that high salt sways blue and high pH sways girl. GD is very flexible and changes with new evidence. The ladies here try their best to keep track of what is working and what isn't so that the sway can evolve into the most effective, least intrusive method of conceiving your desired gender.

IMHO, the reason that GD is referred to as "that other site" is because it's successful. There have been lots of other "rival" sites for both swaying and gender disappointment, but this one has been the only one to actually hang around for more than a couple of years, and to boast a decent sway success rate. Maureen, the woman who owns IG, has stated that we aren't to use IG to promote other sites, and that's been the rule since IG started, but I've noticed that this is only strictly enforced when it comes to THIS site. Apparently, even mentioning the name of this site is enough to get your post removed or deleted.

I still visit IG occasionally, and a lot of us do because we miss some of the people who didn't come over here with us, but I do think the LE diet and GD sway is a better one overall.

I was on IG years ago, I was told about it by a friend. But it was during the whole crashing episode and you couldn't be on the site for more than 2-3 minutes without having issues. So when I happened to google something, this site popped up and I liked its format (non-crashing) better.

There are many differences, the first being the sway approaches. This one is less extreme, not as much push toward "unnatural" methods (turkey basters, cocktails of lime and sperm, etc). Additionally, the site operators are right out there with us, which is really helpful. I find the community here is super-supportive, there is less sway comparison and more solid support. <~~opinion!!

I don't think there is competition, but I haven't been on IG in years. I'm sure they just don't mention this site because it does often run opposite of some of their swaying suggestions.

You mean to tell me that Atomic's first name is NOT Atomic?? That just ruins my entire image of her...you know a badass chick with, like, a superhero cape who fights untruth of gender assumptions. Cause Atomic DOES sound like a superhero name (Lol)

No not at all, the subject is taboo on there for reasons that are totally unclear to me, but it is fine to discuss here.

I have a thread about the origins of the site and the philosophical differences here:

    http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gend...sh-anyway.html

Basically, the IG site was originally a nice place and I met a ton of great people there who I am still friends with to this day (including Tamara). Then something happened behind the scenes, and it was not being maintained. No one knows why or what happened but for 2 years it was overrun with trolls and crashed constantly and there were even some issues where people tried to buy memberships to the site and they had to file Paypal claims to get their money back because the site just didn't work. There were rumors that the whole IG site was going to be deleted, and Nuthin was kindly willing to take a chance for all of us and get this site up and running so we had a place to go. (thank you!!)

I was happy to come along for the ride because I was dying to have the opportunity to start fresh with swaying in a more safe and sane and science-driven way and I felt like the environment on IG was toxic for people and aggravated gender disappointment.

For reasons that are highly confusing and to be honest a little bit hurtful, when we started this site, even though IG was not even functional at that point, we were treated like traitors or competitors. They immediately instigated a rule that we couldn't even mention the name of our site or anything about it. It was very weird because other sites had not had that happen, only this one, so it was kinda hard not to take it personally. If anyone mentions anything having to do with Gender Dreaming, it's immediately deleted by the mods.

At the beginning of this site (represented in the earlier essays esp. from 2011), since most people were coming from IG, I do accomodate some of their sway beliefs in my earlier essays. Furthermore, I have explanations about not doing things "the IG way" and occasionally I was a bit more sassy about this than I should have been and I regret that in retrospect. It's really it's not any rivarly on my part, it was more that I felt like I needed to explain things, in light of the IG philosophy to people who were primarily coming from IG, if that makes any sense.

    Thanks! I was curious.
It seems that a lot I mothers succeed with their sways here after experiencing an opposite at IG. Why do you suppose this is? More weight seems given to diet here, while there it seems to be pH. ?
