Hcg testing is typically done in the first couple of weeks to ensure that the PG is developing normally. Typically blood is drawn 2-3 days apart and it should double in that time. If it doesn't double then it can be a sign of early MC or other problems but it can also be normal. Hcg stops doubling every 48-72 hours around 6 weeks so after that you should get an ultrasound to know if baby is healthy and on track.
