Ok so here's my issue: my husband struggles with performance anxiety when we are TTC. It has happened with both my boys, & when we attempted in April it happened again. I want to stress it's the ONLY time in our relationship it has happened. He is not impotent, has a high sex drive but the pressure of TTC gets too much for him. I think it is partially to do with the fact it took 5 years to conceive DS 1 & it all became quite "mechanical". When we conceived finally it was actually by accident - we'd been told we would never conceive naturally & were focussing on adoption so in no way expecting to conceive AT ALL. With DS 2 we were expecting a long time TTC & we fell PG the first month. He didn't have time to get nervous & we didn't think it would happen that way at all. In April we TTC after months of planning & it was a disaster. He just "couldn't" if you catch my drift. I ended up sending him off to the bathroom with his smart phone & a cup & we used a syringe to inseminate me (which just FYI was totally horrible). I didn't really know if I was doing it right & I didn't get pregnant, which obviously isn't usual for one attempt but it has left me wondering if I was doing something "wrong" or if I could do something different or better. So just wondering if anyone else has used insemination successfully, & if so what is the procedure exactly? We will be attempting next week & while I'm hoping it will all go well, for warned is forearmed.

This thought has crossed my mind too Primal, as my DH just can't "complete" the job with me either but has no problem doing it on his own. He has never had problems with any of the other kids and he says he isn't stressed about TTC this time, so I don't know what it is. I'm starting to think it's me!!?! 😞
So anyway, this month was our last attempt but I'm so sure I'm out as although we had the one attempt last Wednesday, I think I may have ovulated as late as today! And all our other attempts DH couldn't do it, but I'm was wondering yesterday if DH would just give me one more month trying and perhaps try AI.
I know nothing about how to go about it though so will be following to see what others say. xMum of 9 boys & my stillborn angel daughter, Shaylah Anne 20/02/2015

I'm going to try to make it seem impromptu nuthinbutpink but I can't guarantee he won't pick up on it given how excited we both are about #3 & the fact he knows that I'm swaying & he is taking LR for swaying.
Good luck Mum, it could be an option, you might be able to convince him to keep trying if he can finish the job the way he wants to.

What NBP said. I have NEVER told DH exactly what was going, he had no idea about swaying and in fact had no idea we were TTC, lol. Just go about your business, DTD every 3 or 4 days, and throw in the extra attempt at +OPK. He doesn't need to know!

I would scour the internet for some at-home artificial insemination info. The lesbian sites have a lot of this! I know there's a special syringe you can use that has a much longer, more tapered "nose" to give you a chance to get it further up in there, but no matter what, don't go to high! At-home IUI is a recipe for a serious infection!

Well, I was created by AI...my mum wote a book about it (AI using donor sperm). So it can absolutely work, and often on the first try if well timed. Fx for you.
My Ovulation Chart currently TTC, Cycle #16 since last BFP
TTC #1- swaying pink on & off since Nov 2013 - hoping for a girl first but excited for either!
Dec 2001 - May 2006 : 5 early abortions of healthy singletons (3 medical @5w, 2 surgical @8w, last 4 pregnancies conceived with late DH, all conceived while TTA/on birth control)
Mar 2012: miscarried B/G twins @5w (conceived 2 cycles after remověng Paraguard copper IUD while NTNP), one twin was ovarian ectopic
Me: 34, widowed, late O + short LP, normal-good hormone levels excepting undetectable testosterone, seeking a known sperm donor/life partner
My sway: vegetarian LE for over 28w, skipping breakfast, fibre (ground psyllium husks) with/before/between meals, physically inactive, drama avoidance, ocassional minimal YesBaby lube as needed, alternate cycles on low dose Clomid, double shot lattes (with meals)
Past sway tactics I've dropped (in order): Vitex, Sudafed, antihistamines, intermittent fasting, one attempt per cycle at positive OPK, one attempt in fertile period

I have a friend IRL who swears by Instead Cups. Her DH has similar issues--no problem with releasing normally, but gets stressed out when TTC. They had him ejaculate directly into the cups, then she'd insert them right away, and leave them in overnight. They conceived on the first try both times they tried this. They have a pigeon pair, so it doesn't seem to have had a huge effect on gender--at least for them.
