What supplements are best to lengthen a short luteal phase?!

My luteal phase is only 7-11 days, also I have spotting before AF, all signs of low progesterone levels.

I am confused about what supplement to chose, Vitex seems risky, Saw palmetto I don't know much about. I'm thinking maybe progesterone cream is the best option to try first?

    Any advice?

Over the counter progesterone cream doesn't work. And it's not clear if even prescription strength cream improves pregnancy outcomes (it may lengthen luteal phase but if a pregnancy isn't working out, it can't cure that, just makes it take longer for you to miscarry.)

Clomid is the gold standard for lengthening LP. None of the herbs work even remotely as well.

If your LP is 10-11 days, you can get pregnant with that. 7-9 days is less of a sure thing but can happen.

As said, you can absolutely still conceive with a short LP. Beyond that Clomid or Femara are the most effective but require a prescription. I think Vitex is a good option for you - it helped both my short LP (has been as short as 4 days in the past, lately 8-11 days) and it got rid of my pre AF spotting, too. I definitely recommend Vitex over P cream. P cream isnt well absorbed and rarely has much benefit - it just doesn't do much of anything.

Yes, some respond poorly to Vitex but you're just as likely to respond well, if not more so. I suspect most of those who do badly on Vitex don't give it at least the full 3 months to work. It can often throw off your cycle the first month but things usually stabilize nicely in another month or two. So, provided you have the time snd patience, it's worth trying IMO.

Thank you ladies for your advice!

I think I will try to conceive a couple of more cycles before I do something about it!

So I'm on day 33 of my cycle today and 14 days past O, still no AF, only a bit of spotting a few days ago, now it has stopped. Did a digital today that showed Not pregnant.

I'm very confused since my cycles are never this long and my luteal phase is never 14 days!!!

I don't feel pregnant but I don't feel like AF is on the way either.

    What's going on?!

If you didn't get AF, the odds are good that you didn't ovulate when you thought you did.

IF you've had unprotected sex at any point in the meantime, you may be pregnant, just not far enough along to register on a pregnancy test.

If you're super curious, you may want to go to the doctor for blood tests to see where you are in the cycle. Or, if not, you can just wait and see what happens - there is nothing harmful about an occasional longer than normal cycle.

How did you calculate O? Have you been charting?

AF finally arrived on CD 34 and that was a relief since not knowing if I was pregnant but no AF was a bit stressful.

I calculated O with OPK, I have been charting since 6 months back. I had pos OPK on CD 18.

Can mint tea lengthen the luteal phase? I drank a lot last month!
