Did you ever imagine it and maybe think you would get your desired gender? I think about it and try to think about holding a baby girl in the hospital or raising a girl and I just can't picture it. It doesn't seem like it will ever be a reality. I'm just wondering if this is some kind of true sign that I'll probably never have a daughter. That my fourth and final baby will be a boy.

I'm like Mrs Incredible. I've just been told two days ago that after swaying I am blessed to be pregnant with my very much longed for DD and in all honesty it feels like a dream! I never truly believed it would happen (it seemed too good to be true) and now that it has it's totally surreal!

I was wondering the same thing! I love having the girls and I wanted girls but I just figured that I would have a boy too. I try to imagine having a son and having an ultrasound where "it's a boy" but it seems so far out of reach.

I worried that after raising boys for over 20 years it would feel strange or unnatural but nope, felt totally right. It's not that she is "just another kid" but she is a kid and while there are differences, all kids do have more in common than differences, even different gender. Now I make no promises what will come to pass as she gets older, if it will be different or harder or stranger than raising my boys (I get along darn well with my sons who are now adults) but at least up till age two it feels very much normal to me.

I know exactly how you are feeling. I had 9 ultrasounds (7 were medical) with DD1 and heard girl 8 times (she had her legs crossed for one) and I still did not believe it. Even after that I didn't feel like she was a girl, I could not envision her at all. But she is here, and she is 2 and a half. She is talking up a storm, and loves the colours pink and purple. She refused to eat a blue ice cream cone when we were on vacation, that is how much she loves pink and purple. She is quietly rebellious while her 4 year old brother is loudly rebellious
I see my husband in her eyes. I see me in the shape of her face. She is here. Even after I had her, I thought there was no way I could ever have another little girl, and then I had her little sister.
I am telling you all this because I want you to know that I felt the same, but it IS possible.Thank you God and Our Lady

^^Yep. I never thought I would have a girl either, I just couldn't "see" it. Every time I thought about getting a sonogram or giving birth, it seemed like I would hear "It's a boy!" And on some levels, it was probably just because that is what I knew. It was my reality up until that point. I was hard-core convinced that DD was a boy before we knew. I just could not envision it any other way.
I also had upward of 10 sonograms during her pregnancy (partial abruption) and I asked every.single.time if she grew boy parts. Every time. And she never did. Honestly, I expected to open her diaper to boy parts for a good solid 2 months after she was born. It was a bit surreal to me.
Now, it's just our reality. I can't imagine her not being her. She is loud and very diva-like (I hated that word until I realized exactly what that behavior looked like, it's the only word that suits her, although Ill never use it to her face). She rules the roost around here (or so she thinks...and her brothers let her). I don't really notice a ton of differences at this point either. She has her own personality, but the same is true for my other two. They are different from each other as well. And from her. But I guess I don't know how that will change as she ages.
I will say...even after having a girl...I can't imagine this baby I am carry to be a girl. And I don't know what that is about. I automatically assume its a boy. Like I can't imagine hearing girl again. Or it being a girl at all. Exactly the same as I was last time. Ill be blown away if it is a girl. And probably ask at every single sonogram again. Lol. I think it's a pretty normal feeling. And that it doesn't mean you won't have a girl...just that you currently can't imagine it.A: "Owner" of the following brood:

-Our rainbow little man (K: 2011)
-Our sway and pray little diva (J: 2013)
-Our lucky charm guy (S: 2015)
We may be done, we may come back for one more sway. Time will tell. At the moment, we are very content with our family!

It is so reassuring that what I am thinking and feeling isn't crazy! You are right, boy is all I know so I can see now how it would be very hard to imagine ever having a girl because it isn't reality for me.
PS- congrats to all those who have gotten their desired gender! Hopefully one day I will be in your shoes!2008
