I am grasping at straws.... okay, less than straws, really. I just found on from my harmony test that I'm expecting DS#2. This is our last, so my dream of having a daughter is essentially gone. But I'm not quite ready to let it go just yet..... I was wondering if anyone has received the wrong results on gender?
I have read that in VERY rare instances if you have had a boy before, the test can pick up the Y chromosome from the prior pregnancy. I have the actual test results and the tiny print on the form says that it is 99% accurate for male or female sex with a 95% confidence interval between 99.2-100%. So I'm pretty sure this means that the chance of it being wrong is non-existent.
Anyway, just wondering if anyone has actually gotten a wrong result on gender?

I didn't realise the harmony test gave you an indication of gender? I thought it was to screen for Down syndrome?
Do the test results show the chromosome make up??

It does both... well, it tests for all the Trisomy conditions, not just down's syndrome. Fortunately, my little guy tested as low risk for all of the Trisomies.
It also tells you gender. It says XY analysis result: XY (greater than 99%). It then specifically says Fetal Sex: Male (greater than 99%).
I don't know if that answers your question about whether it shows the chromosome makeup or not.Mom to(2013)

Dont loose hope yet because I have read the same things as you where it shows inaccuracies with a previous male birth especially with one close in age like your little ones will be. Prepare yourself to hear boy when you have your anatomy scan to soften the blow that way you are not knocked over if they confirm boy at that time.

Bubs, they have two different harmony tests, mine included xy analysis, but they have one without that part. I'm guessing that is the test you had.
Thanks, nahri. I'm pretty defeated now, and I took a picture of the blood vial codes on the test before they were mailed and confirmed the code on the test results, so little chance it was a "mix up at the lab".

I have heard of it being wrong before yes. But like you say, I think it is extremely rare. I wouldn't bank on it being wrong. I am sorry you didn't hear pink. I too was hoping DS2 would be a girl. But now, at ages 9.5 and almost 7, my oldest two boys are best friends. They play together all of the time. They even choose to sleep in the same bed and cuddle all night. The bond between brothers is incredible and I am Blessed to be able to witness it.
Allow yourself to grieve. I hope you find peace soon!

For what it's worth, the harmony test only cost me $58 (cost of blood draw), and the rest was free even though my insurance doesn't cover it. I just had my doctor order it directly from the manufacturer rather than through a lab. If you don't have insurance, it costs $195 plus the cost of the blood draw.
