Thanks for the info B3! Re: the diet confusion the focus (from Atomic's view) is not on mineral content, it is more on blood sugar, nutrient intake, and overall calorie consumption. Have you read the Oxford study? I think this approach is based on that + some Trivers Willard hypoth. In general, for ttc boy, eat often so as not to let blood sugar go on a rollercoaster, and always eat your protein and carbs together. Choose fruits and veg high in nutrients, eat loads of protein, good fats (like nuts and avocado) and full fat dairy. Aim for 2200+ calories a day. There is some consideration to a testosterone component which is where lifting weights comes in, along with some of the foods that help in testosterone production which are also those high in cholesterol, like eggs with yolks. That's pretty much it. But it is VERY different than IG. I didn't worry about minerals in general but did eat fairly high salt (because I love salt and have always had high salt, actually) and definitely increased my potassium via v8 drinks. Hope that helps some!
WP b6 is supposed to help with the LP! What is your length currently? Glad you got AF; I know being trapped in a wonky cycle is no fun at all.
Welcome 4ofakind!! My DH was on board for #3 but not for swaying. Didn't bother him that I did some things but his perspective was if God wants us to have girl #3 she'll show up regardless, and honestly there wasn't much I think he needed to change anyway. I wasn't going to have him chugging baking soda or anything like that. Hope yours comes around and is supportive though!
Hugs Flava. And I will just be totally honest and say that if you think you'll have some serious GD and regrets IF you get girl #5, then maybe this isn't something you should do, because even a great sway is just that ... a sway, not a guarantee, and you of all people know that already. It SUCKS that you have already tried so hard and still gotten a girl, it absolutely sucks and I hate it for you, and I see where you feel like there's nothing else you can do. Maybe stop hanging out here for a week (not because I don't want you here, I love having you here and esp back on this thread!!!) and see if the urge to have a boy (and urge to TTC) is as strong when you aren't hanging around a bunch of women who are very, very focused on that. Take the time to go back to focusing on what you have (your lovely girls) and not what you don't (the boy) and see if there really is part of you that wants to try again, you know? Maybe you find that you really do, or maybe you find that you don't... or maybe you're still undecided, who knows?!? But I think being here can definitely "sway" you into thinking this is something you should do; I'm quite sure that is why I wanted to try in June rather than wait til October, bc seeing everyone else trying got me all excited. There is an unintended element of peer pressure in boards like this! We're all rooting for you but really, this is YOUR life and YOUR decision and the baby would be all yours to deal with. HUGS. You're in a tough spot.
Lola did you test this am?

Flava: I am so sorry you are getting tired of the whole diet thing before you start TTCing. I am getting a little confused on the whole "diet" thing too. I think I am going to up my potassium, salt, and protein. Still trying to figure things out too. Where's Begonia....she always has a way of making us feel better.
b3: I am going to look into the hypnobabies after I get my BFP....I don't need anything else to get all wrapped up in. I do like Hubby rubbing my back, though. And he would be like a lost puppy if I didn't let him do something.
I think with all the symptoms I had (which I don't normally get in my 2ww), that I probably did have an egg implant and not make it....for whatever reason. Yesterday afternooon, all the sudden I wasn't starving anymore and I felt better....then AF. Who knows, just a theory. Now I have to go buy more TTCing food.
I hope this is my month....
thank you GD

Never mind Begonia posted at the same time as me.
LOLA?
I normally have a 14 day LP, but had 15-16 this cycle
Is B6 good for TTC a boy? I have been thinking about adding some B vitamins...maybe b12? Not sure, I need to find time to research it.Last edited by WashingtonPromise; August 10th, 2011 at 10:37 AM.
thank you GD

WP, glad AF came! I would definitely take the vitamin D, even if you get a good bit of sun daily. Um, I think I know what this is, but freezer camp?
Begonia, remember Wantalittleman? Well, we were all chatting about phs while pg in our FB group, and she always had a high one when pg with Finn. So hopefully that is good news for you!
Welcome 4ofaKind!
B3, here's the thing with swaying (and I've been on these sites for over a year now....so just relaying my perspective)- no one really knows what works. Diet has been proven to have some effect on gender, and that is really the only thing that is proven. But there are lots of theories about high sperm count, more ewcm, all that stuff, and it seems like a combo of all of those things has led to a lot of boys, although there have been many opposites. On the old "guru" site, IG, there was a strict diet and a strict 7 factors you had to do to be considered swaying. You weren't supposed to post your sway and say you really swayed unless you did all 7 factors. But, many women had opposites even with doing it 1000%, and the site just kind of broke down, and there were never any really concrete reasons why you had to do this or that....I think people felt like they didn't know why there were to do this. The studies to support that just weren't valid enough. So, this site came about, and a lot of actual scientific theory and studies are shown here (see that forum!) and this site is more about you deciding what you are capable of and want to do. So, all that being said, the best thing to do, in my opinion, is the high everything diet, make sure you have lots of ewcm, and probably try to not dtd like 3 times a day so your DH's count is not diminished. I wouldn't say to bd like crazy, but every other day is not a bad idea. I did it two days in a row myself, but I am not convinced that you need to have your DH abstain from releasing for 4 days and then have a one shot deal right at O. There have been oodles of boys conceived bding every day through O. Anyway, you just have to evaluate what you can and want to do and go for it. Did you read the "Kitchen Sink" thread? Kind of explains that better. It is confusing, especially when it's not all laid out for you, like a step by step, but that didn't seem to work for people....especially because swaying ISN'T a step by step kind of thing because our bodies and lives are so different. What works wonders for one might do nothing for another. KWIM? I hope that very long explanation helped. I would just spend a few days reading the heck out of this site, all of the sticky posts by Atomic Sagebrush for sure.
As for me, I poas this morning at 12dpo, and a stark ass white bfn. I think I'm out. My boobs don't show any sign of being pregnant, not like they did twice earlier this year. Even when I had the first m/c, they got really sore by 12dpo. So, onward to next month. I really don't understand WHY this didn't work, I mean, I know I'm ovulating (obviously with the Clomid), we dtd RIGHT on O, the same pattern as the last months when I got pg actually, didn't use the ew or anything obstructive. I just don't get it. But I'm just sulking right now, hopefully I'll snap out of it soon. AF should be here Friday.

You may be VERY right, when you know your body as well as you seem to (I like to think I'm the same way), your intuition is likely right on. I feel like may have had the same thing, because I had this textbook implant dip on day 7, which was weird, but I guess nothing made it. Or maybe not, who knows is right!!!!
We are gonna get knocked up later this month, WP- you and me, sister!!!!! (and of course anyone else here who is attempting, LOL!!!)

Awww, WP that was sweet, I'm glad I can sometimes make you feel better
It is interesting that your LP lengthened as usually that isn't the case; I wouldn't worry too much, shorter is more of a concern. See how it goes this cycle. But I'm with Lola, I think d3 and a b-complex are great additions. My prenatal I took while swaying had folic, of course, but also b6, b12, and d3. I LOL about freezer camp! FX it's a girl!
And FWIW I think it is entirely possible that you might have had an egg implant but not make it; TTC5 had a similar experience. And with women like yourselves who have been through this TTC/pregnancy process as much as you have, you know what's up. FX next cycle is a sticky healthy bean for you!
I don't know if my post to Flava will make her feel better today ... Flava I really hope that didn't come across as super harsh.I just know I've seen you mention more than once you're not sure if this is what you want to do and I also know being on here made me personally more into the idea of having one more, that's for sure. Maybe that isn't the case for you though.
Boo on the BFN Lola. BOOOO. But the great thing about the 2WW is once it is over time to try is around the corner ... this month is going to be IT! Sticky blue beans for you and WP both! I so badly want you to have a boy now to really burn the ex ... I'm not normally a vindictive person but really, he just sounds rotten.
And I didn't know WLM named her son Finn! That is on our list! I don't think we'll use it, my bet is we will use Patrick. Since according to my urine I'm having a boy I won't even bother with girls names
Have to go to the dentist with DD1 today; FX for no cavities ... we don't have dental insurance and those things are $200 a pop

Jane- WOOHOO!! Fx for a healthy, sticky and blue little bean!
Flava- I have an awesome midwife who doesn't like to intervene, she stepped in only to save me from a c-section. It would have gone down the same way no matter where I was.
Sorry your having such a hard time right now
B-I feel the same way about pH, I did EVERYTHING to raise mine and it never got above 5.5 with bsf. All my months of swaying gave me a very zen/screw it approach to things I couldn't change lol I would like to formally thank you for for the image of a woman in a raincoat and goulashes holding up a cows tail hpt in handI hear ya on sending dd off to k, dd3 is my little buddy and I'm dreading sending her off even though it won't happen for a full year lol
