I will be using this when ttc in May (as well as cb fertility monitor) and wondered how offer u have to take your temp? Is it just once a day or more and is it throughout your cycle? Am interested to learn about my cycle too!

Basal thermometer

Just once daily as soon as you wake up, before you do anything, even move or talk! Some women only temp from AF until just after O, but I temp every single day of my cycle bc im a data nerd and i find it easier to stay in the habit. I very strongly recommend vaginal temping and suggest a glass basal thermometer - I use a Geratherm brand one from amazon.com - digital thermometers gave me crazy temps. Fertility Friend (the website & iPhone app) is a fantastic charting resource with a free charting course that teaches a great deal about our bodies and cycles.
I've been charting for over 13 years and it's truly fascinating, you will know your body SO well. I'd start charting now so it's a habit and not an obsession once your sway rolls around.
My Ovulation Chart currently TTC, Cycle #16 since last BFP
TTC #1- swaying pink on & off since Nov 2013 - hoping for a girl first but excited for either!
Dec 2001 - May 2006 : 5 early abortions of healthy singletons (3 medical @5w, 2 surgical @8w, last 4 pregnancies conceived with late DH, all conceived while TTA/on birth control)
Mar 2012: miscarried B/G twins @5w (conceived 2 cycles after remověng Paraguard copper IUD while NTNP), one twin was ovarian ectopic
Me: 34, widowed, late O + short LP, normal-good hormone levels excepting undetectable testosterone, seeking a known sperm donor/life partner
My sway: vegetarian LE for over 28w, skipping breakfast, fibre (ground psyllium husks) with/before/between meals, physically inactive, drama avoidance, ocassional minimal YesBaby lube as needed, alternate cycles on low dose Clomid, double shot lattes (with meals)
Past sway tactics I've dropped (in order): Vitex, Sudafed, antihistamines, intermittent fasting, one attempt per cycle at positive OPK, one attempt in fertile period

Great thanks for the advise, if I start temping now would it be accurate as I'm on birth control right now and will be until ttc in May? X

Ah that's a conundrum. You can't temp (well you CAN, but there's not much point) on hormonal birth control unless you still O on it, which is rare. Although, I guess you could still do it to get into the habit, I would love to see a chart from someone on BC, I assume it just looks steady & anovulatory, outside of the week off.

I think you should start temping NOW so you get used to it and it no longer seems like a big new exciting project. You only need to temp once a day, first thing in the morning. Vaginal temping is most reliable.
I am not at all a fan of the CBFM.
I have an essay on temping here http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gend...sition-cm.html!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

Great advise thanks, why are u not a fan of cbfm atomic? Just thought I would take temp aswell to learn more about my cycle really. I fell the first month of coming of BC withy previous 2 and don't really know my own cycle as I've always been on BC. Just curious really!

I have just seen tons and tons of people have issues with it. False positive, false negative, and it's too expensive for something that has been so unreliable. Some people do like them, it's just that overall seems to be much more trouble htan it's worth.
