Just scheduled the Panorama test but I didn't get an appt until the 28th... I'll already be 12 weeks then![]()
I won't have results until the 14th week. I wanted to find out earlier! I also didn't want to be tempted to try and do the nub guessing etc and maybe get my hopes up but now of course I will. My Dr doesn't do the test and all the places that do seem to be pretty full. I might try calling at a practice where a friend is a Dr to see if I can get in with her earlier but I don't have much hope.

The ring spins around in a circle. The strong doesn't move a ton but when it does the ring is spinning. Not a definite back and forth on the string but also not like definite big circles for the string either.

Junie, does your doctor offer one of the other tests, like harmony, verifi or materniT? You might be able to get in earlier with your doctor if they offer one of those tests which are almost the same thing?

I called my Doctors office and spoke with the Nurse Practitioner about the blood test for DS, well it didnt go well first she basically laughed at me and said my insurance doesnt cover it, So I told her it does I had it done with my last child than she said that couldnt be because the test is only a year old WTH, umm no! Than she said I must be thinking of another test and I said no I saw a specialist and he ordered the test to rule it out 100% because my DS neck was measuring "thick" that was when I was 21weeks so that was mpre than a year ago. I went onto my insurances website and they do cpver the test for high risk pregnancies I am high risk due to Im pregnant with twins. I am going to call again tomorrow and ask her tobput the order in amd see if my insurance accepts ot,or not since I wont be 10 weeks til Saturday anyway.

Missxo- that is so frustrating! I really hope that you are able to get through to your Dr. without any more trouble. That is just not ok for her to brush off something so important! It might help to have the insurance company fax the information straight to her...if they'd be willing to do so. Let us know how it goes.
Junie-best wishes on getting the testing done. It's a simple blood draw, which is odd that a special appt is needed, however, I know things are done very differently even within each state and county, even, let alone another country. Maybe they just have specific days to do certain things. Alas, it will probably put your mind at ease a little sooner, so that is a good thing, either wayI really hope that you get to hear healthy and pink together for Valentine's Day!

Missxo, for what it is worth, in California, if your doctor orders the harmony test directly from ariosa (the manufacturer), then the test is free and you only have to pay for the blood draw. The test cost me $58, even though my insurance didn't cover the test.

Thanks 3boysblessed! There was actually quite a big to do about allowing these tests in Germany in the first place as people were saying that it was discriminatory for people with down's syndrome. However they are now legal but you must do a sort of counseling session beforehand where they talk to you about what it could mean if positive, etc. My Dr. could order the test but chooses not to because he doesn't really approve- although he wouldn't say that directly. Just when I brought up at my last appt he went on and on about how this requires a lot of serious discussion with my husband, and it shouldn't be done lightly, and then he gave me a card for the practice where I will have it done- but said we should talk about it even more at my next appt. I just nodded my head and made the appt myself. LOL I think because of their history Germans can be quite sensitive about these types of issues but a few weeks really won't make a difference in the long run
missxo143: That NP sounds terrible! I hope you can talk to someone with a bit more sense today!
I'm starting to feel better which is amazing! With my last 2 pregnancies MS also ended around 10 wks so I'm happy that looks to be the case with this one as wellI didn't take the B6/unisom last night (although I don't feel it has helped much this pregnancy) and it was a good thing because DS2 ended up having a fever of 103.8 and a febrile seizure this morning. He had a febrile seizure once before in the summer so thankfully it wasn't as frightening as the first time but I was glad not to be groggy as my husband was too tired to be much help. Thankfully he did take him to the hospital and the pediatrician this morning and now he is sleeping away on the sofa as his fever has gone down a bit. So thankful he was here to help as I get very stressed at the hospital when there with the children.
