I had a gender reveal party for my immediate family the other day and told them all it was 2 boys. I did a "party" with cake so I didn't seem sad or disappointed. They weren't overly excited about 2 boys, but they hid it extremely well. They were all very shocked because they were just so sure I'd "get my girl". I know it seems odd to lie to family, but I'm pretty certain it's 2 boys and they all know the date of my big scan of the doctor's office. It seemed easier just to tell them the news ahead of time so that way when I'm crying and upset a couple weeks from now I dont' have to talk to them about it and can just hide. Lastly having all my family think it's for sure 2 boys is helping me deal with the eventual reality of it. I talk to my mom everyday about "the boys" and do my best to visualize and imagine it. I can't say I've gotten excited about the prospet yet, but hopefully that will come with time. It's much easier to put on a brave face now with family since it's not 100% real yet.
I think you were wise to do that. If one of the twins turns out to be a girl, what a great surprise!
But for now, everyone can start coming to terms with twin boys until you know otherwise.

OMG sarah4girl ALL THE TIME. My 2.5 yr old DS's elbows are like daggers when you have sore bbs especially. I not only have to worry about him but the dogs as well. Thank god for amniotic fluid otherwise poor little DD would have no protection in there against the assault. As long as they are not just absolutely wailing on you then you should be fine.

Had my checkup yesterday DD's little HB is a nice 150 and plenty of moving around in there. My 20 wk anatomy scan is scheduled for the 26th and the doc asked me "will you be asking the big question" I debated not saying anything to him but it just spilled out. I already know its a girl we had a private down state. I got the most disapproving look EVER which was also mixed with the disbelief of there's no way they could know that early. I also ended up with SPD last time because I already have one bad hip but it didnt start until 30ish weeks. Its already hitting me BIG time. Have to sit up in bed but make sure I keep my knees fully together or it feels like someone is ripping my hips apart from the middle. Bending over is only a chore because of the pain because I don't have a bump at all really. Last time it was crutches and a pelvic brace to keep my hips together where they should be. He tells me hot soaks and tylenol.... Something tells me I may need to find a new OB but the only choices in my area are the other two that are in his office. I think I am going to make an appointment with my regular doctor because if its happening this early I think a little bit more than hot water and tylenol are warranted.

I am trying to convince myself I am pregnant with boy number 5. It's like a self protection mechanism ... I don't dare to hope it might be a girl. And I will eventually come to terms with it being a boy and never having a daughter but god help anyone that makes any sort of stupid insensitive comment! I will not be held responsible for my actions. It's "those comments" that I dread the most!

I actually think its a good idea bluebonnet, you can always say they got it wrong! And if it is two boys how fantastic that they are on board and are supportive. X

Good idea Bluebonnet! We're also treating this one as a boy unless told otherwise. We only have a boy name, have told everyone we think it is a boy, etc.

My sons hang on me/use me like a jungle gym all the time and I am not worried. Humans are really robust and during a normal pregnancy you have to have some pretty traumatic injuries to actually hurt the baby. It is really protected!

    Thanks ladies. Feeling reassured

Nahri- that sounds horrible! Being pregnant is hard enough without SPD. What exactly is SPD??

Nahri, my goodness girl! No wonder this is your last baby. I have a hard time physically being pregnant, but not quite as tough as you! I hope time flies and you forget all pain and discomfort when you have a little girl to hold.

SPD is this. youll feel it to some degree during pregnancy based on weight gain and how baby is sitting. Its the natural thing that happens during birth that allows the canal to expand more to give room for the head. However in some people like me, it goes way early and way farther than its supposed to. It starts out feeling like you pulled your groin muscles or some general soreness. After a while it starts spreading to the actual pelvic girdle and you will feel a pain or a pressure just above or on the fat pad of your lady parts. Youll really feel it if you sit up wrong with your legs to wide etc. But heres a diagram of what happens and where youll feel the pain. From army injury my right hip is already bad. I have fluid in the joint and its just a very weak hip in the muscle. So the extra weight of baby sitting right on my hips makes it worse. This time it started VERY early compared to last time.

Hope you can ease your pain for the rest of the pregnancy Nahri!

I have got my 1st ultra sound scan date but I will only be 12 weeks and 1 day...so disappointed I might not get a good nub shot by being too early

I had to buy some maternity jeans today as my belly has just bloated out making me look 4 months already. Anybody else have this? I'm only 7 1/2 weeks :S
