Of course I've hit the point where baby transitions from gaining ounces to gaining pounds. By the end of this week I should have an estimated 2lb baby girl in there. Placenta, fluid, breast, increased uterus size aside I have jumped 5lbs in a month! I know they talk about "rapid" weight gain as a sign of a problem for pre-e and other things as being within a couple of weeks or less. I was gestational diabetic the first time and never had the weight jump like I did this time. I was a steady gain a couple loose 1 or both then gain and lose all the way through to which i put on a steady 1-2 at this time frame but definitely not 5lbs in a month? Something to call the OB about or just a mommy freak out?

Dude. I gained 60+ pounds with my son and nothing stopped it! I wear a size zero. 5 pounds is nothing. It comes off and it doesn't mean you'll get pre-e. Just be healthy and eat healthy.

That is not rapid or extreme weight gain by ANY means. Plus you can gain differently in each pregnancy.
My Ovulation Chart currently TTC, Cycle #16 since last BFP

With Pre-E you jump 5 pounds in a DAY!!
I gained !!!!! 70 !!! lbs with one of my pregnancies at least (I quit counting after a while LOL) which averages out to be like 8 lbs a month, and I have had many a month during pregnancies where I have gained 10 lbs in a month. Don't even worry about it.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

I hear you! At this point in my last pregnancy I gained 8lbs with a total weight gain of 21lbs. This pregnancy I've already gained 13lbs @26 weeks and. 5 of those have been in the last month! I realize some people gain a lot more, but it is hard when you gained one weight with your first and are way ahead of schedule the next. What really boggles me is the extra weight doesn't seem warranted ? I watch what I eat and because of not feeling well , live off oatmeal and yogurt. I've tried to slow it down, but no luck! I guess what concerns me most is how long will it take to lose?

My first go around I obviously lost 7.2lbs of baby. 2lbs of placenta and probably about 2lbs of fluids almost immediately. With breastfeeding and ZERO exercise due to my SPD on top of disabilities and just eating right I lost everything by about 3 months later and was lower than my prepreg weight. Granted not everyones metabolism functions the same way and some take a year or more to lose it with a lot of work. Boy does the breastfeeding burn some calories though for those able to do it!
