Thanks everyone! I am so grateful for you all. The genetic counselor was trying to talk me out of NIPT if I was going to do amnio anyway. But, I continued to ask about the NIPT. She said that I could possibly get denied coverage of the amnio if I have a negative NIPT. So I asked about out of pocket prices. She said that the counsyl test, which is their typical test was something like $795. So I said that I thought there was a $200 test. So she pulled out another form and lo and behold harmony is $195. So I went ahead with harmony out of pocket. Thank you so much for your advice. And my NT scan looked good. It was so cool to see him squirming around. I'm calling it a him because I am assuming that it must be a he.

$195! That is a great price. Does that take into account your insurance? I don't have insurance (and I live in Canada) and the lowest price I could find was through the MaterniT21 company- $425.
Please share the details! If I can get the same test for less that would would be great!

That's great news Keshet!
2 boys, I am in Canada also, and my panorama was $795, and my friend had the harmony which was about the same. I have read conflicting things about the materniT21, like it had more inaccurate results? Maybe it is just because it has been around longer therefore having a longer time more people to have wrong results. Plus I know you can't always believe what you read on the internet, as most of this info was from message boards.
My Dr. Said panorama was superior, and that's why I chose it. Trust me, it's not like I can afford an extra $795, had to take a vacation payment with my mortgage company to afford it, but I felt it was the best and totally worth it
Good luck with whatever you decide!2011

I can't afford anything really! I will stick with the MaternitiT company I think. They offer screening for 3 trisomies and gender for $425. I have read a ton of info about which is best and it's hard to imagine that one lab has superior results as compared to another when they are all competing in the same market and for the same goal- screening for genetic disabilities. I would never say that bc my screening came back negative I will be having a disability free baby. The test are not designed to diagnose. If I got a positive result I would consider further testing. Anyway I am getting the test for gender determination (mostly) and that is supposedly a very simple lab test. When you get into the trisomies I think there is room for more error.
I will be testing on March 30. [emoji15]

The Panorama is the best but the other tests are only slightly inferior. All of them are highly accurate, especially vs older tests.

Anyone else getting braxton hicks already?? I have been noticing them for about 2 weeks now. No clue you could get them this early but i looked it up and they in fact generally start around 8 weeks..most women just dont notice them. Crazy! My nausea is loads better...i still get moments though especially after eating too much.
Its been a while since my scan and im getting nervous again about the baby. Wish i had a doppler! I also just found out my clinic is closing so i had to find a new doctor...how annoying!
How is everyone else doing?? It is still so slow on this thread!!DS 12008

Rosie, if you have an iPhone, try downloading the free app called "baby's beat". You can actually hear the HB or at least see the numbers displayed through the microphone of an iphone.
I have been getting the contractions too. Really scary. But normal, I think. I think that only if they get really painful or regular is it a problem.
