Atomic first posted about these in the LE diet thread. I was very interested and have tried them out.
Here is some info on the noodles: http://www.shiratakinoodles.net/index.html
I honestly had a hard time with them the first time I tried them several weeks ago. I bought several packages and have not touched them since they first arrived. They have a little bit of a strange texture. In addition they have a very fishy smell right out of the package. The instructions are to rinse them well, so that does help. The first time I tried them I boiled them for one min. and ate them with a little salad dressing.... probably not the best combo. I had not touched them since. I was dissapointed. However, I now have constipation (so sorry if TMI!) due to the diet. I am eating a lot of matzo and white rice everyday. Anyway... I decided to try them again since they are made of water soluable fiber. I fried them in the pan for a few mins with no-salt butter. They actually turned out ok. They are said to take on what ever flavor sauce you use so I think the sky could be the limit and are worth a try.... just be aware of the texture of them.![]()

I also must say that they have helped out my constipation issue! I wish I had been eating these sooner!!!
I bought mine (angel hair) here:

However since, I have found them at Meijers!
Okay... just wanted to share!!!![]()

These noodles are soo low in calories which is soo great my only concern is that they are soy and if i were eating alot of them id be afraid they would sway blue! To prepare them they need to be rinsed well and dried before you prepare them. They also taste best in creamy sauces because it sticks to the noodles better. There is actually a recipe for alfredo that has low a lowfat sauce if anyone is interested in that.

Thank you so much for the suggestions!!
I did see that they are labeled as soy free.... so these should not sway blue... right?

I think there's some debate over whether soy sways blue anyway isn't there?
Glad you found something for the constipation though, I'm really suffering too. I did eat some Quorn on Sunday night, could be coincidence but I had my first proper poo in months on Monday2005

ok well tofu sharataki and miracle noodles are similar but different products, the sharataki ones are made from soy and 20 cals per serving and the miracle noodles are soy free and 0 cals so maybe way better? Im leary with the soy because my sil had 4 girls then went on a soy burger kick for 2 months and get pregnant with her only boy,it could have been something else that swayed boy but it still concerns me.

I've had the shirataki ones a few times. I find they're fine with a robust tomato sauce on them. I didn't think about the soy factor, though - I guess I shouldn't eat them too much.

My understanding is that they (both shirataki and miracle noodles) are not soy based. The tofu shirataki are fake knockoffs of the real shirataki noodles and not what you want anyway because they DO have calories, protein, and fat.
I'm glad you gave them another try HH and I so appreciate your tips and experiences. I freely admit I haven't tried them, but I do think they could be a good addition to the girl diet for people who are struggling with the protein.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

The shirataki noodles do have some calories and protein, but not much: 1g of protein, 20 calories, and .5g of fat...so it's still a good option except for the potential soy issue. I just had some for lunch with low sodium tomato sauce, and it was yummy!

Thank you Atomic.
I made them again yesterday and I think that I like them even more!
Thank you so much for posting about them in the LE diet!
Mocha ~ the ones that I bought have no calories, no protein, and no soy.
