Hi all,
I'd really like to hear your experiences if you've had a cycle where you didn't ovulate:
How did you know?
Was it a one off month? If not, how many cycles?
Dud you do anything to bring ovulation back?
Why do you think you didn't ovulate?
Thanks in advance for any replies, I didn't ovulate this month which I think is down to drastic weight loss in the girl diet (I lose weight VERY easily) and I'm wondering how to make sure I ovulate next cycle, I don't want to permanently damage my fertility

I'm wondering if I didn't ovulate last cycle (1st full cycle since birth) - as AF turned up 4 days after my final peak OPK. Of course LP defects are common when BF, but I'm wondering... temping this cycle to find out for certain if I do this time, but again wondering if I will.
the book I'm reading "Taking charge of your fertility" says weight loss of 10% of your body weight can mean you stop ovulating. Are you temping - is that how you know you didn't ovulate?
ETA - even if the weight loss IS the cause of you not ovulating, you'd just have to put some back on and you'd start ovulating again (according to the book!)

Thank you, rainbow, I did lose more than 10 % of my body weight and that is exactly what I'm doing, I've already put 2 lbs back on, so ht is really useful - thank you! I did find out through temping, I'd say you should temp next cycle so you know for sure what's going on.

I have indeed. I knew because I did not have a proper period, only spotting, and one of my cycles was oddly short and the others were very long. In retrospect I also believe I had a few when I was a teenager and also when I was breastfeeding DS 1 and 2 but didn't know what was going on.
It lasted about 3 cycles, I had just lost a lot of weight and was exercising a lot. I did not regain the weight or stop exercising, but my body just caught up. I went onto conceive two more kids after that!!
You won't permanently damage your fertility. It happens to everyone at one time or another...our bodies just need a break now and then. Athletes often go without periods for YEARS while they're training hard and go onto conceive children later in their lives. If you ever hear of someone who "damaged their fertility" they had severe, long term anorexia for many many years (and even those women can often go onto conceive once they recover.)!!!
