I've always had light, short AFs, usually 3 days and I conceived at least one boy that I know of. My AFs have been extra light and short lately and it's really worrying me. Like 1 day of light flow. I know my 3 day AFs were just fine, I had a good lining and hormone levels back before they got so light recently. It will be interesting to see the results of my blood work from last month. I'll let you know what they are.

With my normal AF it was unusual for me to go through tampons quickly and often I'd pull a partially dry one out after 12 hours. Usually that would happen on the 3rd/4th and lightest day.

    My Ovulation Chart
currently TTC, Cycle #16 since last BFP

TTC #1 - swaying pink on & off since Nov 2013 - hoping for a girl first but excited for either!

Dec 2001 - May 2006 : 5 early abortions of healthy singletons (3 medical @5w, 2 surgical @8w, last 4 pregnancies conceived with late DH, all conceived while TTA/on birth control)
Mar 2012: miscarried B/G twins @5w (conceived 2 cycles after remověng Paraguard copper IUD while NTNP), one twin was ovarian ectopic

Me: 34, widowed, late O + short LP, normal-good hormone levels excepting undetectable testosterone, seeking a known sperm donor/life partner
My sway: vegetarian LE for over 28w, skipping breakfast, fibre (ground psyllium husks) with/before/between meals, physically inactive, drama avoidance, ocassional minimal YesBaby lube as needed, alternate cycles on low dose Clomid, double shot lattes (with meals)
Past sway tactics I've dropped (in order): Vitex, Sudafed, antihistamines, intermittent fasting, one attempt per cycle at positive OPK, one attempt in fertile period

Now I am having trouble getting tampons in or out as they are still quite dry sorry TMI - they have more CM than blood. There is red bleeding it is just very light. If that makes sense.
That is still in normal range although gosh that would be frustrating for me anyway. I also have the same prob. with tampons, just be sure you do change them by the time and not by the amount they're used to prevent toxic shock syndrome.

I am not convinced it means anything because several of us have gotten girls with really unusually light AFs but I do know of many women who have girls and always have heavy AFs - the heavy AF's may be depleting and = more girls conceived.

That could make sense - anaemia has always become an issue for me so it could be something.
