So I've been on a 1200 calorie diet for a month and lost nothing! I'm 163cm and 79kg. My BMR should be around 1600, so I should be losing... I'm at a loss to what is going on. My blood test came back clear for diabetes.

Sometimes when we lower calories too much, our body thinks we are in starvation mode and will hold onto everything, preventing weight loss. This happened to me when trying to lose the baby weight from DS2. Try increasing calories for a 2-3 days to 1600-1800 calories. You should start to lose again. I know it seems counterintuitive, but you will not lose, if you are exercising and reduce calories too low. Once you start to lose, you can lower your calories once again. Some people cannot ingest 1200 calories to lose weight, regardless of BMR. I am one of them. I am too active when not exercising and my body freaks out and thinks times are tough. You will find your sweet spot!

You might have to give up empty carbs and sugar. I found when my BMI was above 25 I'm somewhat insulin resistant and my weight loss stalls if I eat any candy, cookies, sodas, etc. Have you tried the PCOS version? Weight loss is more complicated than calories in calories out. I also agree with XX that you might be too low and your body is in starvation mode. Lastly when I begin a new workout routine I have trouble losing weight as well. For me I hold onto weight for the first month of working out and then my body allows me to lose.

You need to switch to an alternate diet with less carbs and you can read about those here. http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gend...rt-3-pcos.html
It is also imperative that you add exercise, even if you cannot get up to the 60 6-7 guideline. For people who canot lose weight, the benefits of even mod. exercise outweigh any potential risk to muscle growth from exercise.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
