Hi!,
So I have had a roller coaster this past 2 months. I messed up my normally regular cycles by taking fertilcm, and have had brown spotting on and off for the last month !
I am swaying blue and trying everything. Timing, ph,sodium,potassium,position....but read contrary evidence against all of them.
I have been reading a lot of the HE diet and it makes sense to me at a deep conscious level.
Optimal health to concieve a boy makes sense.
The problem is , for someone like me, who has pcos, and is overweight 170lbs, my optimal health is not to gain weight , but to lose weight.
The process of losing weight ...exercise , weight training, eating a lower calorie diet of protein and healthy carbs is what doctors tell us triggers our hormones to stabilize and regain fertility.
So what do I do....i feel that I need to lose 20 lbs while I am ttc, but can I do this and still have a successful boy sway?
It is so confusing ??...isn't losing weight in a heathy way the optimal healthy state an overweight woman with pcos be in?
Argh!!!!...so sorry for the rambling rant...but i really feel so healthy and nurished while eating clean healthy low cal food and exercising as well as losing weight....but I also want a baby boy more than anything!!!!!
Please give me your advice Atomic.!!!!!!

I'm not atomic but you're not eating a lot and very little protein it looks like. I'm sure she will chime in but I think you can be healthy and TTC a boy!

Hi nutinbutpink,
Thanks for the reply. Yes I am eating about 1000 calories of which 45-50g are protein.
I know it isn't a lot, but i "feel" full and nourished on about this much.
I am trying to lose weight too because of the pcos, and am told this is a good diet for that.
But that is my fundamental issue/question with the HE diet.
Isn't being at my optimal health as an overweight woman with pcos mean that i do this ...
I am not opposed to doing things differently , it's just that it is under these circumstances that I would be considered " eating healthy " as a pcos overweight woman....

Also? What if I increase my calories to let's say 1500 and also increase my exercise to off set the extra calories.
What I mean is ..does it matter if I eat a lot of calories , and burn them off and lose weight..can it still be effective ...or don't have to "keep" those calories in me.
So if I eat 2000 and burn 1000 ...is that ok?

I don't know if this is an option for you, but have you considered getting a custom plan? Takes all of the guess work out of it!
Read this:

You might consider Myo Inositol, 2 grams twice a day, and 1/4 tspn of cinnamon, I think both of those would help in your case.Sept 2008 & successful boy sway

Is DE in my future?

As a general rule I think it best to lose weight first and then take a couple months to hold steady, then start TTC without losing any more weight.
YOu need protein and carbs at every meal and snack. That is not a boy friendly diet you are eating there overall. It can be healthy carbs like fresh fruit or vegetables.
Exercise for you is manditory. It will help control the PCOS and the weight. I'd have you do both - lift weights and do about 30 min. of cardio 4-5 days a week.
Drop the ACV and baking soda drink. ACV lowers blood sugar which may sway pink and you are already on Metformin which takes care of that anyway. You don't need both. And the lemon water will take care of alkalinity.
Drop the baking soda drink. It doesn't work anyway, it is terribly unhealthy and may cause high blood pressure which anyone who is already overweight should be trying to avoid.
I'd have you take extra Vit D up to 1000 IU if you aren't already.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

YOu do not need to gain weight on the HE Diet. It is possible to do without gaining any weight at all and many people have done exactly that.
YOU CANNOT get and stay pregnant on 1000 cals a day. Maybe some people have done it, it isn't safe and NO it is not a good idea for anyone with PCOS anyway because you screw up your metabolism cutting back too far on calories, and then it becomes harder and harder to lose weight over time.
I would eat at minimum 1800 cals a day and yes, please exercise to compensate for that. You can do 30-45 min. of cardio 4-5 days a week and also lift weights 4 days a week. If you are doing both types of exercise in one day, I'd do 30 min. cardio that day.
You don't keep the calories in you, but you do keep the NUTRIENTS in the foods!!! That is what you're after!!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
