How bad is cycling for swaying blue??????
Between now and summer Hubby will be gearing up for the "season"- running and cycling training for races, etc.
I would MAYBE try now (when his training is lighter), but I'm breastfeeding DD #2 right now (14 mo) and having #2 and #3 so close together might kill me. Plus, we just started Nutrisystem....basically, everything about ME is swaying pink and everything about him is swaying blue (or about as blue as it gets with him).
So my question really is just this....how bad is cycling for swaying blue? Do I have a shot? We have two daughters and he wasn't even cycling then!!!! Although, now that I know about swaying, I know there was probably a 5% chance they were boys!
The only thing we have in our corner is that I think generally our fertility is very high- We've DTD three times with in a week of ovulation (and I have ovulation pain every month, so I know exactly when I ovulate) and gotten pregnant 3 times. I've had a chemical pregnancy.
Any responses are great! I'm gearing up to purchase a plan.....Just have to formulate this timing out in my mind. Up until about a week ago I was convinced timing was my only barrier and now that I've "educated" myself, I'm going crazy with new plans.

It's pretty bad. It's one of the few things shown in real scientific studies done by reputable people to sway pink. It's not a dealbreaker, but usually it's something we like to avoid if possible. You ALWAYS have a shot of a boy no matter what - even our best efforts still yield boys with pink sways about 25% of the time (and realistically it's more like 65% for the population as a whole)
I think you should hold off for your sanity! Remember, you could turn your life inside out, upside down, and get another girl anyway. Even with the best blue sways, we still get 20-25% girls (and a lot of those people had hubbies smoking, which I think is much worse than the cycling is.)
O Pains do NOT tell you when you ovulate. I know it's hard to believe but you can have pains and twinges and "stabbing" before, during, and after ovulation. Your body makes 15-20 eggs per ovary every month and it's not unusual to actually have pain in the ovary that doesn't ovulate because the pressure is relieved in the one that does, kinda like popping a zit LOL. So if that is playing into your timing fears, please don't let it. Even if you were spot on correct about when you Oed those months based on the pains, there just isn't any way to extrapolate that to future cycles. You can have a pain that feels very similar to another pain and it's different, like a tension headache vs. a cold coming on.
Most of us on this site have 2-3-4 or more timing opposites. I got 3 boys with cutoffs and my girl in boy timing. It just doesn't work. BUT if you can't get past it, please let me know because we do have a technique for blue sways that is compatible with Shettles but still sways blue.!!! Just thought I would add, from my own experience, we have one little girl in between two boys and when we conceived her it was the ONLY time that DH was riding his bike to and from the train station each day to get to work. So at least 40 mins on bike 5 X a week. Of course it may not have been the only thing that contributed to us getting a girl that time, but it's quite a coincidence. If you want to give your boy sway your best shot I would try and avoid the cycling also. Good luck.

Wow! I'm so bummed. I bought the blue plan last night. I have 2 sisters, no brothers, 7 female cousins vs 3 male cousins.....
I'm so sick and tired of everyone and heir "boy talk." Gah.
Can we do anything to combat the cycling? Maybe I need to have a talk with hubs. He's not supportive bc he doesn't believe swaying will work & he likes girls anyways.

To add to atomic's comment on O pain being unreliable for determining O: even IF you have super strong, distinctive O pain that you know based on ultrasound monitored cycles correlates with O day most of the time (which is the case for me), you can and almost definitely will still have cycles with misleading O pain some of the time (which is true for me, though my O pain is mostly accurate it is by no means foolproof). Also, it's possible to only ever have pain on one side, either bc one ovary is way more sensitive or bc you O almost exclusively from one side (very common to have a dominant ovary). I almost always O from the right ovary in monitored cycles, but when I O from the left on the rare occasion, I don't usually feel O pain. Some might think they don't O months without O pain but that's unlikely in women with regular cycles.
My Ovulation Chart currently TTC, Cycle #16 since last BFP
TTC #1- swaying pink on & off since Nov 2013 - hoping for a girl first but excited for either!
Dec 2001 - May 2006 : 5 early abortions of healthy singletons (3 medical @5w, 2 surgical @8w, last 4 pregnancies conceived with late DH, all conceived while TTA/on birth control)
Mar 2012: miscarried B/G twins @5w (conceived 2 cycles after remověng Paraguard copper IUD while NTNP), one twin was ovarian ectopic
Me: 34, widowed, late O + short LP, normal-good hormone levels excepting undetectable testosterone, seeking a known sperm donor/life partner
My sway: vegetarian LE for over 28w, skipping breakfast, fibre (ground psyllium husks) with/before/between meals, physically inactive, drama avoidance, ocassional minimal YesBaby lube as needed, alternate cycles on low dose Clomid, double shot lattes (with meals)
Past sway tactics I've dropped (in order): Vitex, Sudafed, antihistamines, intermittent fasting, one attempt per cycle at positive OPK, one attempt in fertile period

My hubby cycles and I have two boys. He mostly just goes to work and back so less than 20km per day.
I worked with someone else who cycled daily and I was sure he would have girls but he has 2 boys. I'm not sure what his wife's diet/lifestyle is like.
Obviously the stats say it is girl friendly but there are always exceptions

omg! Hubs has agreed to putting cycling on hold for 2 months!!!!!
Also, he will replace his cycling with weight lifting!!! I'm ecstatic.
I just ovulated so we have 8 or so weeks until our attempt.......
Atomic, I think I bought the plan that has coaching...
Do we continue this conversation via email or threads?

The plan is TOTALLY set up to counteract whatever badness hubby has going on. IT will only help to do the diet, supps, etc etc etc. Any changes you make will only help. What I hate to see is people who have had one thing not ideal, who then throw up their hands and decide they may as well give up. You shouldn't give up, it can still happen! Just control what you can control and then let go of the rest. This isn't defeat, it isn't even a setback. Some people who have husbands who are seriously ill, on tons of medication, in really bad health, obese, all of which are worse than the cycling, get boys doing the stuff we recommend! You got this!
