Honestly I had a great experience with castor oil and would use it again BUT I would never encourage someone to use it without first discussing it with their midwife.
Also the meconium probably has more to do with the babies being overdue and nothing to do with castor oil as no good studies have been done where they could show what really caused it. And if you were still having stomach issues during labor then your dosage was incorrect and too much. It's supposed to jump start labor not make you miserable for the whole thing.
If you can wait forever for the baby to come that is awesome but many women have deadlines set by their doctors and for me it is a very easy decision between a hospital induction and trying castor oil. But again everyone should just talk to their DR's/midwives and do whatever they feel comfortable with. Hopefully none of us need an induction!

Do any of you know if it's possible to have an induction with a home birth? It will likely be in Germany. Unless my house is not done...
Bc of my back I probably will need to be induced early...if I ever get pregnant again. But I really want a home birth. I hate hospitals.
My Ovulation Chart currently TTC, Cycle #16 since last BFP
TTC #1- swaying pink on & off since Nov 2013 - hoping for a girl first but excited for either!
Dec 2001 - May 2006 : 5 early abortions of healthy singletons (3 medical @5w, 2 surgical @8w, last 4 pregnancies conceived with late DH, all conceived while TTA/on birth control)
Mar 2012: miscarried B/G twins @5w (conceived 2 cycles after remověng Paraguard copper IUD while NTNP), one twin was ovarian ectopic
Me: 34, widowed, late O + short LP, normal-good hormone levels excepting undetectable testosterone, seeking a known sperm donor/life partner
My sway: vegetarian LE for over 28w, skipping breakfast, fibre (ground psyllium husks) with/before/between meals, physically inactive, drama avoidance, ocassional minimal YesBaby lube as needed, alternate cycles on low dose Clomid, double shot lattes (with meals)
Past sway tactics I've dropped (in order): Vitex, Sudafed, antihistamines, intermittent fasting, one attempt per cycle at positive OPK, one attempt in fertile period

Hi Maiden!!! Midwives are a bit skittish here when it comes to home birth I've found. If you found a good one I imagine it could be possible but finding a midwife willing to do a home birth can be hard depending on where you live. If you start looking early enough it could work though.

I'm an hour South of Cologne. I'd be fine with a midwife, also okay with paying for an OB if that's needed/possible. I'm on the Kasse but pay for most things Privat. If my house is not done I will rent a place or stay in a hotel suite, I am NOT giving birth in this decrepit hovel! So I could move to anywhere...if I'm due in Winter I might just go to the South of France. If the new house is done I'd like to give birth there/here.
Thanks Junie! I will start asking around now. How are you feeling? Will you go for a 4th one day?

I get it at my local health food store where I live. You can go to their website and order it there or from Amazon. It's the best! I've used it now with three kids and won't use anything else. I'm allergic to lanolin so that's not an option for me. It's great on chapped lips, cuts, burns, and scrapes too!

Xx- cream sounds great. I had horrible cracked nips w first for 1st few weeks of nursing and just expressed milk on them and air dry. Haven't needed anything for the others as they are nursing champs from the start.
Homebirths induction- can't picture a homebirth midwife doing an induction as they carry extra risks and need more monitoring. In the US depending on what state, like mine, they can't even write rx so they def. Couldn't but every country/ state is different. Also if you have back problems and you might need/want pain medication they can't give that either but again maybe they can in Germany. Something to discuss.
