Question Low glucose in the 2WW?

I am a bit confused about why we would want lower glucose in the 2WW, if female embryos require more glucose than males. If we have been doing the LE or low anything sway diet to begin with, than isn't our blood glucose already way down?

From Atomic's link in the LE diet post, in the Austrialian:

"There is clear-cut evidence that the greater the glucose intake, the healthier the embryo," Professor Gardner said.

"Previous studies with animals have shown that the healthiest blastocysts are those with the greatest glucose consumption, indicating the likelihood of a successful pregnancy.

"It is exciting to find that this process appears to be the same in people, knowing that the glucose in embryo culture media is a major energy source for cell division and is required for biosynthesis to enable cell replication."

The study also found that female embryos appeared to consume more glucose than male embryos.

I just can't wrap my head around this one. Thanks in advance!

I believe it is male embryos like a higher glucose and females a lower glucose.both thrive in medium and neither like very high.Somene else may have better explanation.

I thought it was that the females are possibly more efficient at absorbing the glucose, so they can survive in a lower-glucose environment whereas the males NEED more in order to keep growing.

Plus reducing fertility sways pink too...

This is how I understand it too - higher glucose def helps the blue embryos

Yes. XX are better about sucking up the glucose to the point where they may even suck up TOO MUCH glucose in a high-glucose environment. XY are less effective at sucking up glucose and so they probably need/prefer a decent amount of glucose in their environment for optimal nourishment. (Neither XX or XY like very high glucose levels - XX seems to do better in low glucose and XY do better in stable, medium glucose.) Glucose is present in the CM and it is affected by diet, which is why you get yeast infections when you eat a lot of sweets.

I hope my previous explanation did this justice, but just to rephrase, XX can consume more glucose which means they are probably better at getting glucose from the environment than XY are and also that they can potentially suck up too much glucose.

When the researcher says, "the greater the glucose intake, the healthier the embryo" they mean that the healthiest embryos are just good at turning whatever available glucose into food for themselves, not anything to do with swaying. So XX don't require more glucose, it's that they can GET more glucose, which fits in with the overall observation that XX tend to be hardier and more likely to survive than XY are.

Thank you, Atomic! That was a clear explanation. I'm having a hard time sticking to the low glucose and LE thing, this time around in the 2ww....it's probably just psychological.
